Good Morning. It's Friday 23rd December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

No more Drameh's at Thorp Arch

During his Manchester City pre-match presser, Jesse Marsch has insisted Cody Drameh will remain a Leeds Utd player, at least in the short term. It has been widely speculated that the 21yo has been a disruptive influence at Thorp Arch in the past, leading to speculation about a permanent move away from Elland Road in the New Year.

Multiple clubs, including German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund have been linked to the former Fulham youth prodigy, but it now seems that Drameh has addressed his attitude. Marsch gave Drameh glowing praise yesterday describing him as being fantastic in the past month, and is now looking at how he fits unto his first team squad.

Drameh's potential has never been in doubt, but his yearning for first team football has left a big question mark over his temperament over the last year. He has just 18 months left on his contract, during which time, his price tag will continue to fall. Leeds need him to sign a new contract, and send him out on loan next month. Ayling is far from the player we saw a few seasons back, and I dare say he'll be let go during the Summer, leaving Drameh to fight it out with Kristensen as to who gets the No 2 jersey next season!

“Those discussions are ongoing, especially with young players, [about] how to challenge them to grow and equip them with things so ultimately they'll provide the club with more at some point,” he said. “How to shape their development path to get them to be the best they can be as quickly as they possibly can. Whether that's a loan or staying here and then looking at the overall resources of what we have as a team and as a club.

“You bring up Cody. Cody has been fantastic over the last month and I'm so happy we have gotten to a point with him where he feels so energised by what we're doing and engaged. “Then the decision will be how to continue to push him in the direction for him to be an important player at this club, which he will be. Maybe we need to even think about how it fits now.

“He's done really well and I'm really happy for him and then you try to go through every player. What's the situation of the team? What's his personal situation? How do we provide him with what he needs to push him along as quickly as possible?”

Dallas surgery could spell the end of his dynasty

Stuart Dallas has once again undergone surgery as the 31yo battles to keep his career alive. The news came from Jesse Marsch, whilst delivering his Pre Match presser for the visit of Manchester City next Wednesday. Marsch obviously played down the operation, describing the surgery necessary 'to clear some things up' but surely, nobody goes under the Surgeon's knife unless there's a problem?

It also looks like Luis Sinisterra won't be back anytime soon either. The 23yo is set to return to full training in a fortnight, and will then need time to regain his match fitness. Although not mentioned yesterday, Patrick Bamford's return to training has been hampered by illness, which will see him sidelined beyond the New Year.

“Yesterday, we didn’t have a bunch of guys in the mix because of little injuries and sickness. Klichy was sick, a few other guys that were sick the night before the match.

“But we’re hopeful can be healthy and back in training this week. With the exception of Stuart who had another surgery yesterday to clear some things up. That surgery was successful,” “Luis Sinisterra is making good progress, we have to be cautious with this injury but we hope in a couple of weeks he will be back in training. Hopeful everyone else is in training this week.

“Coops had a minor calf injury, and Jack Harrison had an adductor injury. They should be training this week. Summerville was on the pitch today. Rodrigo was set to play, but he had a tight hamstring so we decided not to.”

Wolves spending spree showing they're not ready for the Championship

Fresh from signing Atlético Madrid striker Matheus Cunha, it has now been revealed that Wolves are close to capturing Manchester Utd defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The West Midlands outfit are bottom of the Premier League, yet only five points below Leeds.

Whether Leeds fans would like to see the duo at Elland Road is irrelevant. Wolves are making a statement that they are ready to fight for their survival. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Cunha has signed the relevant documentation to become a Wolves player, and will join initially on loan, with an obligation to make the deal permanent in the Summer for €50m (£43.9m).

If Wolves go down, surely the contact will be void. I can't see a Brazilian International playing in the Championship. Should Leeds have done more to capture Cunha or have they dodged a bullet. How much do Leeds need to spend in January to stay up?

    Morning all

I don’t think how much is an indication of what’s required. We could spend £100m and end up with 3 Firpos 2 Llorente and a Dan James

I think we need to just concentrate on getting better than what we have. If we do sign Mason Holgate he’s better than Llorente although is he equally as injury prone.

We have been linked with a few LBs who all sound vast improvements on Firpo. I think we need to be looking at shrewd signings, I don’t believe we have anywhere close to £100m in the bank, not even half that.

Am I happy about that, of course not but we need to be realistic. If we are linked with any player costing £40m + forget it. If we hear Orta is jetting out to talk with one then panic. This will indicate a smoke screen, three wasted weeks and stories generated of how we nearly got our man.

I’m not bothered about the news on Dallas, I feel sorry for him on a personal level but after his injury and considering his age he really shouldn’t be a first name down on a team sheet. Greenwood, Drameh, Summerville it’s the youngsters like these who should be ahead of Dallas

Wolves main problem this season has been lack of goals, so they sign a striker who has a record of 1 goal every 5 games, that's a lot of money for that return. Che Adams has a record of around 1 in 4 and would cost less than half that. Yet,not here, our fans slag us off for wanting Adams but lament the fact Wolves have beat us to Cunha. Weird.

Make or break January window. If we do no business I feel we go down. We have known about the LB situation for a whole year which means this is the 3rd transfer window. We have needed a good striker for 2 windows and has been said on here that to stay up we need goals but so far Rodrigo has been doing it and without him we would be bottom of the league. Think Pep isn’t happy with Southgate:

Unhappy Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola claims England midfielder Kalvin Phillips returned from the World Cup “not in the right condition to train”.

The £42million summer signing from Leeds, who played just 40 minutes in Qatar, had made just four substitute appearances this season because of a shoulder injury and was initially a doubt to even make Gareth Southgate’s squad.

However, he has arrived back in a state with which Guardiola felt did not justify his inclusion in the squad for the 3-2 fourth round Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool.

I’d hazard a guess Pep isn’t happy with KP. Players are paid a lot of money, surely it’s up to them to remain fit and put the effort in. City had a good few bit part players at the WC and it’s only KP who’s reported back in poor shape.

I can see City cashing in on KP next year and writing it off as a one that didn’t work out

Radz speaking on some podcast - 49ers have the option to trigger a full takeover in 2024 he didn’t say before, he used the word “In”.

This has created speculation that Radz won’t be spending much in this window or Summer 2023 as the fee to purchase has already been set

But I imagine that fee would be dependent on what division we are playing in ?

I’d assume option means would they bother triggering it if we were in the Championship. If you were Radz wouldn’t you do just enough to survive? He only needs to avoid relegation this season. Summer 2023 he doesn’t need to care too much, he’ll be thinking let them spend big in the January window?

100% correct and you can see that at some stage there is going to be a discussion about mismanagement at the club. For example the project or the plan for improving the squad to ensure we stay in the premier league. That plan almost failed last season because Bielsa didn’t have the players to cover the injuries. Bielsa said countless times that he has to work within a budget which means irrespective of him refusing some players, he didn’t have the bodies. The club gambled and almost got relegated. So to ensure stability this season the club brought in plenty of players but the reality is that we spent around £1m only because our sales covered the incoming, our net spend is way below other clubs this season. So a valuation of between £300m-£400m right now would see That price more than half if relegated. 49ers Enterprises is an investment vehicle and if relegated heads would roll. Radz needs to spend but won’t spend without permission from 49ers and them putting in 48% of the money otherwise 49ers benefit from the club valuation without paying their share

I'd suppose that would then all depend on the amount of monies involved and if the 49ers didn't trigger it if we did go down, then where would that leave us. Personally I think we're too close to relegation for him not to invest, I know it won't be a lot but they have to do something.
If he doesn't and we go into the rest of the season with what we have, I think we're down.

Good morning and as for investing surely if the 49ers take over the debt is theirs. So if Rads spends and fees are payed over a staggered period with clauses and addons then his outlay is smaller. Plus if he borrows the money from his other companies then he gets it back. So why the hell are we not signing the two players needed to help the club survive in the prem.
We have a long list of players past it or not good enough. Dallas is finished at Leeds utd. Marsch now is saying keep klich so who is leaving?.
