Saw TC at Shell petrol station at Melton. Very decent lad (has a top bird and all), he had the decency to speak about all things city when i spoke to him. Asked him about the game and what he thought and some very interesting things were said. Basically he agreed with me that he should be in the team and couldn't understand why he wasn't and when asked about Nigel, a very interesting reaction to say the least. Also he said that NP "loves his new boys". Top lad to stop and speak to 4 young lads, he loved the banter and his BMW 3 series coupe was very very smart!
Because he has produced very little end product all season and the fact Koren is far better in the middle than him and it would be hard to fit him into a 433 with three strikers and Koren in the team.
Thats a bit strange. I would have thought he would have disagreed with your assertion that he should be in the side!
That's harsh on him but the second part is true. McKenna and Koren are better, but I'd be happy to fall back on Cairney.
If any of you think that TC couldnt have improved on either Mckenna or Evans today then you know fuk all. Evans passsed the ball into touch twice in the second half. Didnt want the ball off Hobbs a number of times and dropped him in it once by giving it straight back hurriedly. Mckenna looks all industrious but never actually gets to a challenge-just huffs and puffs.
I'd say the football we played in the first half yesterday, was as good as we've ever played, there was nothing wrong with the performances of McKenna or Evans, in fact I think McKenna particularly played very well. Cairney was a waste of a shirt at Forest and we looked far better when McKenna replaced him, that's the reason he's not currently in the team. Though maybe I know **** all about football.........just like our manager.
To be fair to Cairney, he was played way out of position against Forest so was expected to be ineffectual.
Indeed, but Nige obviously thought that against West Ham we needed two more defensive midfielders to protect Koren in a more forward role. If Koren was out, then Cairney is the obvious replacement, but while he's fit he needs to be on the pitch and that's at Cairney's expense. Cairney isn't a replacement for Evans or McKenna, he's technically more gifted, but doesn't perform the same role, he can't play defensive midfield at all.
Isnt that 3 games lost with Mckenna and Evans in the centre midfield? Leeds, Barnsley and West Ham? 8 goals conceded, superb defensive midfield eh.
Leeds was lost by Gulasci, not by the midfield, we played well at Barnsley, we just didn't get a result and West Ham was a 4-3-3 and our best football of the season. Personally, I'd definitely play Koren and McKenna, or Koren and Evans in the middle, as I think they're our best midfield pairings, but with all our wide men out injured(except Brady, who's been poor in the last few games), we're limited for options.
A midfield pairing of Evans and McKenna is obviously not very creative, however we should have won two of the games we lost, and would've done if the strikers could bury their chances. We conceded four at Leeds mainly because of Gulasci and an all round poor performance, and were unlucky to concede 2 at West Ham and Barnsley who we outplayed for the majority of the game. You can't really blame the Evans - McKenna pairing solely for any of the three defeats.
Chazz you're a pretentious prick, I think you'll find many users of his site have very good knowledge of football and have probably seen more games than you will ever see. Now back to your thoughts, you're welcome to these but don't think yours are any more valid than others.
Me and my mate felt he deserved MOTM. Though I don't begrudge it for McLean, I reckon it was Paul's really.
If we had strikers who could hit the back of the net on a regular basis when the chances are their for them we would of won our last two games, no other reason have we not won them.
As many have said that was the best perfirmance by a city team since the PL. No real weakness anywhere in the team IMO we just got bullied out of it for 10 mins in the second half by a side with a bit more quality experience and guile. Listening to a few West Ham supporters talking after the game whilst walking across the bridges to Argyle Street, they said they were poor in both halfs. SA is very experienced in playing route one football that gets results rather than playing fancy football in the way the 'academy of football' expects but this will surely get them the results that will give them automatic promotion. Waghorn's strength would have tested their back four but still a work in progress. Well done City.
