Good Morning. It's Wednesday 21st December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Caprile tipped for big money move Former Leeds Utd keeper Elia Caprile has been tipped for a big money move to Serie A in the not to distant future according to the 'Bari Repubblica'. The 21yo enjoyed a two-year spell in West Yorkshire but left during the Summer in the pursuit of first team football. Since joining Bari, the former Chievo Verona youngster has become one of the hottest commodities, with Sky Sport’s Walter Zenga naming him in his top five Italian shot-stoppers. His £275,000 transfer fee may be a drop in the Ocean, but Leeds will have the last laugh. Victor Orta insisted on a 50% sell on fee, meaning half of any big money move will end up in the Leeds coffers. please log in to view this image Toney facing lengthy ban following further betting charges Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been charged with a further 30 breaches of the Football Association’s betting rules, on top of the 232 he already faces. Since gaining promotion to the top flight, Toney has been directly involved in 40 per cent of their goals. Losing him will for any sustained amount of time will have a devastating influence on their survival hopes. Toney has been accused of breaching rule E8 which stipulates that any player (or staff member) from any club all the way down to the Northern, Southern and Isthmian leagues, are prohibited from betting on any football match taking place anywhere in the world. In September 2019, former Leeds academy player Jordan Stevens was handed a six-week ban, and a £1200 fine for a similar offence; the difference being Stevens was only 18 at the time, the monetary sums were tiny and only 59 breaches (compared to 262). The ban meant Stevens was unable to train with Leeds, interact with teammates or even talk with the coaching staff during. Should Toney be allowed to play whilst such a serious charge is hanging over his head? If the case is proven, how long should he be banned for? please log in to view this image Leeds face competition for Belgium star Leeds face competition from Barcelona and Rangers for want-away Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin. The 21yo has been in awesome form this season. In 14 appearances, he has made 4 assists and has a 'Whoscored' rating of 6.91. Raskin has made it clear that he intends on leaving the Belgium outfit in order to progress his career (that rules Rangers out), and with only six months left on his contract, Standard Liege will be keen to recoup as much as they can. Raskin is only 21, and highly rated for someone so young, but surely Leeds should be concentrating on the immediate future, and a potential relegation dog fight! please log in to view this image
Morning all Toney is a tricky one, he can plead guilty and save a costly enquiry or he can string it out pleading innocence. I can’t see him playing for at least 4 months if found guilty. I’d guess Brentford and the players representatives are speaking with the FA to find out what the worse case scenario would be if he cooperates 262 breaches, I’m assuming 10 individual bets is 10 breaches, accumulators, trebles and doubles, are they one bet? If not one bet you could wrack up 262 breaches in no time
Morning all. Even a decade ago previous gifted Owners warned against January signings. Clever lads them
Like Ristac I believe he should get a long ban and big fine. Jordan Stevens an 18yo academy player got battered in real terms. His career at Leeds ended because he couldn’t see his mates and had to go home to his parents for a few weeks. Not allowed to to any training grounds so running the streets by himself.
Just a personal view If Toney is found guilty and when we look at what was done to Jordan Stevens he(Toney) should have the book thrown at him If not then we have a racist problem within the FA
When we were chasing Cunha summer before last we were told £20m should do it. Then last summer Athletico Madrid paid £23m for him. He rarely played and didn’t score more than a handful. However the style Simeone plays obviously didn’t suit Cunha and now he’s signing for Wolves and the total bill is €50m …. So anyone asking why he chose Wolves over Leeds need only speak to Eire
Tyler "I just had a little bit of a knock in the last game against the Netherlands, just in my calf,” he said (Leeds Live, 20 December). “Just coming back from that a little bit, but not bothering me anymore. I feel good, feel sharp. I would be training, but Jesse’s saying take all the time you need if you can right now it’s an opportunity.”
Monaco friendly tonight reminded me of this. Yeboah in his pomp. First was a foul on his own keeper by none other than Lilian Thuram. 2nd was an absolute peach. That Monaco side also had the great Enzo Scifo playing, what a baller he was… and it was the first time I ever saw Thiery Henry. Remember him coming on as sub and hurtling down the right wing like a whippet on acid.
Most will have heard about the Lee Bowyer interview yesterday, but this bit is fascinating because Amari Miller who we spent £1m on, right now he really hasn’t turned up and is the only one of Orta’s recent buys for for the future who hasnt I hope he’s right: Lee Bowyer has talked up the potential of Leeds United winger Amari Miller following their time together at Birmingham City. Bowyer was the manager who handed Miller his senior debut at the Blues and a further four appearances, including two starts in the Championship.
Another shyt buy from Victor Orta. Glad he told him he will get a new deal as soon as he sorts his Barnet out
Evening all I'd hate to say it but with over 200 charged against him Toney is guilty. There's gonna be a lengthy ban against him and I wouldn't be too shocked if Brentford get rid. Are we gonna chase Raskin all January? I hope not.... especially as we've been linked to that lad at LA again.
Do we know when these breaches took place? Was it when he was in the prem? They were discussing this on talkSPORT today and there’s some speculation that these might go back to his younger lower league days. Still a ban but not as long as if these are recent. Not sure to be honest.
Seems the Leeds camp is full of illness ffs, hence hardly anyone playing tonight. Rodrigo had a tight muscle like Harrison last week so they stopped him playing. How many I’ll or injured will make the City game?
Not sure when they started but there was an official statement that the offences continued until around Nov/Dec after Brentford were promoted. So all through their promotion campaigns and then whilst in the PL as well. The statement did not identify what matches (which division etc) the charges are related to.
