Thinking a bit longer term, we have Jevon Mills and Andy Smith both doing well in terms of development, so centre half cover in Summer might not be a priority if they continue as they are. Left back we do need to sort. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Elder join somebody else in January as I’m sure he doesn’t feature in Rosenior’s long term plans. Could do with him sticking around until Summer, but if he goes, we could probably manage.
I must say it does sound a bit odd, I'm not sure if he has taken his coaching licence or not, I seem to remember him taking a media course, and it seemed that he would go down this route rather than coaching. Maybe just be another red herring, unless bringing him in as mentor/cover at Centre back until the end of the season, so he can help with the defensive side of things. I seem to be leaning about it being speculation with no foundation.
Didn't Rosie say something about wanting Davies to return, when the time was right? I can't remember where I read it but I took it as a return as part of the coaching staff.
We're going to have enough trouble shoe-horning our squad into the 25 available places come January, signing Curtis Davies as well would be madness.
I wouldn't drop Ingram now anyway, just like Matt he'll have to bide his time and force his way back in.
Neither would I, I wouldn't have him on the bench either and I'm being brutally honest, I think he should go back in Jan. It's nothing to do with his ability, we just have 2 very good keepers that are ours and Baxter is starting to look like he lacks a little robustness, so let's spend the money elsewhere
Vale, Simons, Baxter and Salah can all go for me. Complete waste of money. Sign some players with pace.
Agreed for now, but the goal Sunderland scored didn't exactly fill me with confidence. Cant say whether Salah is or isn't a waste at the moment. Obviously if he isn't going to be fit then he should go back but the kid is apparently a bit special and we have a longer option on him.
