Signed up for the Hive too. Weather and government incompetence and intransigence have scuppered my chances of going. Not confident, lack of fit/in form midfielders being the main cause for concern. And my perceived lack of success when watching on the Hive.

    Here we go...

Morning all. There was some frost overnight, but it has disappeared rapidly as the temperature is heading upwards towards double figures. Despite the fact that all the French players were born in the country, and played through the youth system, they are not French enough for some. Because their parents came from other countries, they are only partially French according to them. Sometimes I give up in despair about some people. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

The things you stumble upon in Facebook - this is the area where I lived for over 30 years.

I sometimes wonder why we left...

Edit: bummer - it's still available on Facebook but doesn't want to play so here's the Instagram link.

    2nd edit: I give up...

Morning all. Mild, but overcast and breezy. The Christmas cards from England that have escaped the sorting offices continue to trickle through. Some of them were posted at the beginning of the month, so we are hoping that ours posted while we were there make it through the backlog. There is not the same tradition in France. Joyeux Fêtes or Bonne Année cards are in the shops, with just a few for Noel that are very expensive when you do find them. When the cost of postage is more than the cost of a card, I wonder if that is an annual event due to die out. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

It already has in our household - and did so when we realised that seasonal greetings can be sent for nothing via Facebook, Messenger or email etc.

Morning all. Mild, but overcast and still quite breezy. Pictures coming out of the queues trying to get tickets for the Chateauroux v PSG cup game. The stadium holds 17,000, and it looks like it could be sold out. Where do all the people come from in football when it is a "big" game, and where do they hide away when it is a normal league match? Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Grey with rain expected this afternoon. Shortly, off to the physio. Next appointment likely to be Monday 26th, a public holiday in England, but not in France. Generally, if a public holiday such as Christmas or New Year is on a Saturday or Sunday, it is lost. No making up happens. Some companies do however take the week off. Not a good time to order something that is not in stock. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

We had our Growatt battery pack installed last week - I've given up waiting fir the Tesla - although it's still on order.
Very smart looking, but , currently useless. The inverter will neither charge nor discharge the battery. Perhaps that's why they are more easily available !
Even today, in winter , my panels are sending some power to the grid . Grrrr !

It's the same in Germany Frenchie - if a public holiday happens to fall on a weekend it is lost here as well. New Year's Day falls on a sunday and the second is a normal working day, whereas in England they would have it free.

They do regularly have 'ponts' weekend, the best idea ever. Who wants to go to work on a Friday if you have Thursday off?

And if you’re off Thursday and Friday, why work Wednesday? ;)

Morning all. Grey, but dry at the moment, though something tells me it won't stay that way. Daughter and husband should be in France by now, and on their way down. They are trying to avoid driving around Paris, and the last time they did, finished up going 100 kms west before they realized. I am now on cleaning up leaves and disposing of rubbish duties. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Afternoon all. There is a chance that I will be able to go to the Rotherham game on 21 Jan. What are the arrangements for tickets. I have a fan ID so can I buy one on line? Do I need a special app for tickets which, presumably, I show at the gate?

The app is pretty unreliable, NZ. It is Apple Pay or Google Wallet. We use the latter. If you have any problems, stroll down Occupation Road to the ticket office behind the Rookery, and they will give you a printed out copy of your ticket, which should work. I say “should” because the ticket office, their systems and how they ‘understand’ their systems is a joke. <ok>

If you ‘Show Details’ of the digital ticket, and it happens to be for the game you are attending (no joke, it is often wrong - about 50% of the time for us), then in our experience it works. But check that.

Evening all. With visitors staying, my routines are shot, and they only arrived yesterday. It has been wet all day, so grovelling under his car to fix a bit of under tray that was flapping and change a light bulb was not much of an option. Phoned up my friendly garage, who said to take it in at four o'clock, and he would sort it. Half an hour later, a new bulb installed, the tray securely back in place, and the total cost €10. My son-in-law was suggesting that it was too cheap until I dragged him away. So now I will light the wood burner for some warmth and cheer, then maybe have a bottle of beer for a change. Enjoy the rest of the day. <ok>
