There's potentially a massive one being built north of Howden...

And another's been given planning in Wawne...

Thank **** for that. Your response to my post was pointless. There was no argument involved in my posts.

'Hull City Centre Public Realm Strategy'???
I'm not living in Hull, and rarely go into the centre. Now a townie who over recent years has gravitated more and more to the coast & countryside.
Today I had the 'pleasure' of a couple of hours to kill in Hull city centre and was absolutely gob-smacked by what I saw. I spent time in a well known coffee shop chain, plus in a couple of larger stores, the rest of the time was simply wandering the centre and the 3 shopping arcades just aimlessly wandering, listening, observing whilst I waited for a call to pick somebody back up.
For those that live in Hull maybe there's no longer any shock, maybe it's a case of the frog and the slowly boiling pan syndrome. But for me the difference is nothing short of astounding.
Right, I guess I'm going to get called all sorts by some. So be it. I'm only speaking the truth about what I saw, and I don't see why I should not be able to say it how it is, or at least how it so clearly appeared to me.
It is no exaggeration to say that, if you just guessed based on the people you saw, you honestly would have no idea whatsoever what country you were in. You certainly would not guess it was England. That isn't racist, it's just fact.
I can probably safely assume some of the people are the immigrants housed in the city centre hotels, but that is far, far, far from the full story. Even the few white faces were often not actually British once you heard them speak to each other.
In Hull!! Many older people coming into the centre must be left thinking 'what the hell has happened', and 'how the hell has this happened'.
And the reality is it's only likely to go further.
This honestly isn't meant as some racist post stirring anything up. I honestly don't considered myself racist (yeah, they all say that). I just found it absolutely staggering how much things have changed, even in the relatively short time since I last spent time wandering around the city centre. In my opinion, and for various reasons, this massive continuing change simply cannot be right.
Back to the thread title, 'Hull City Centre Public Realm Strategy'. **** me. Why anyone with options would now choose to live in the centre is beyond me.
Now let's see how long this stays up, for simply speaking the truth and daring to have such an opinion.
