The "Ferrari Daytona Spyder" in Miami Vice was actually a mock-up built on a Corvette chassis and engine. When the show reach the height of its popularity, Ferrari took notice and asked the show's producers why they weren't using a real Ferrari. So in one episode- When Irish Eyes Are Crying (1986) Jeff Fahey plays an illegal arms dealer who demonstrates to Crockett how a hand-held rocket launcher works by blowing up the "Daytona". In later episodes we see Sonny driving the famous white and very real Ferrari Testarossa around Miami.
