I see the point on them 2 you’d just not really throw money at either of them these days as they’re not exactly prolific anymore. I think the idea of the team they were trying to build would’ve made Oscar the perfect striker for it but it’s just not gone as planned and his weaknesses are being exposed more often then his strengths

From what I heard yesterday it’s purely because he doesn’t have a future here and it was described to me as harsh on him. The other 2 however, last our first in kind of attitude at the club at the minute

I agree, the end result with all of those players would be Premier League or very top end Championship and all very nice. But he brought in Shota and a box of cherries before he had even started baking the cake. 22/23 was the year to use proven experienced British players to take us to mid table and start to add this exciting talent around now for a crack next season.

We will never know why he blew his load in the way he did, was it excitement, was it the fact these players might not be available in a years time? What we do know is that we are no better off than when he took over but he has wasted a fortune of his cash and Rosie now has to almost start from scratch.

What will be interesting, and significant, is the type of players we go for now. If it is experienced British players like Porteous then it would appear Liam has been able to convince Acun to calm the hell down and do things properly. If we repeat the mistkes of last summer then I fear for us.

But we're only halfway through this season?

That's like watching the Matrix trilogy and then stopping halfway through Matrix Reloaded and saying "The people of Zion are definitely ****ed and there's no way they'll survive."

Most of the players we signed got crocked or were scuppered when we signed them. When they weren't injured, we were playing fine and still not at our best. Get everybody back, then we'll have a look at our chances after a few games. We can't expect better if we're using mostly the same players as last season.

James Scott is not on north of 10k a week, unless he's had a massive pay rise or new contract I've missed.

Scott signed when we barrelling towards League One, there's no way any of the players we signed that season were on more than £7k a week.

Considering 2 of our poorest signings this season in my opinion, Figureido and Woods are highly experienced players I just think the lack of strategy was more the issue rather than where the players came from.

Would be interesting to see how this season would have planned out for shota if we hadn't had the injuries..... If we stay up ( which I think we will ) then maybe the injuries where a blessing in disguise as the injuries led in part imo to the poor results and I don't think shota was the long term answer.

It's those type of signings which really hurts us as well in FFP terms. They'll be on around £30k a week combined which is a hell of a lot when they're no better than what we had last season for a fraction of the cost

Rosie showed exactly what he thinks of Fig yesterday by playing a RB, who's not particularly good defensively, at CB instead of him

Woods is pony, I agree on that, but Figureido is better than he is showing, no idea what's wrong with him, looks to me like he has had the confidence knocked out of him playing for Shota and still not recovered.
I'd hoped to see him in the centre of a three but you're right Rosenior seems to have made a statement yesterday, unless he thought Christie was the key to breaking faster and felt we could hurt Sunderland down that side? Amad not the best defensively?

I was never convinced tbh, he wasn’t rated by Forest fans until Cooper came in and even then he was only bit part. He’s okay on his day but has a brain fart in him every game that usually costs us. Would move him on in summer if able to. We’ve got a real core that we’ll hopefully see a lot more of in the second half of the season that we can build on for next season rather than having to overhaul the entire squad again

Figureido made a fair few appearances for Forest last season, so I don’t think it’s down to ability. Like has already been said, he went through a rough patch under Shota and never recovered. He needs easing back in. I’d play him in the Cup match and see how he plays. If he looks like he can’t be arsed, ship him out. If he looks like he’s trying, maybe it is a confidence issue.

Christie embodies what Rosie wants from a player and you can see in his performances why he is so liked.

I did find it odd he played him there though when he could’ve just played Elder left back and had Christie in his normal position. We don’t look very threatening when he’s not down our right flank

That starting 11 had Steve Bruce written all over it. Just missing the good old winger up front and strikers left on the bench.

Totally agree but not sure it would work against all opponents at this level.
Christie has been find of the season for me. Never let us down and looks dangerous when he has the ball. He's an upgrade on Coyle who can also do other things like play centre back at a push. Really like him

The ones I spoke to were gutted he was leaving and I'm sure he was more than a bit part mate, can't be arsed to dig up his stats so you might be right with that though.

I had such high hopes for him in the middle of Greaves and either Jones or Mac. I can't help thinking he has been put under more pressure here because of the players in front of him not being up to it either (Woods, slater, tufan at times) than he was at forest and in a low on confidence defence the situation just got worse for him.

That mess with Baxter at Swansea was the signal to me he is completely shot to pieces. Either that or the laziest, sulky pants we've had for a long time and I just don't see that in him.

I thought yesterday we passed the ball around well but not in areas which would hurt Sunderland. It was boring at times because nothing was happening. I still don’t think we are tall or physical enough upfront, and Oscars penalty was poor. We are missing the injured wide men and I do think Oscar will get back scoring with better forwards around him. Longman was decent but blows hot and cold too much, if he could get some consistency he would be decent. I’m hoping for, at least, one new forward in January. Any news on the injured? Has any played a reserve game yet?

They were the quietest Sunderland fans I've ever heard at the MKM or BP.
