but the table doesn’t lie and after 20 odd games we are where we are, regardless what Slaven thinks. The reason we are there is because of mostly what he also stated. There’s nothing selective about that

Don’t think Rosenior is helping his cause at present. He’s certainly making us harder to beat, but he’s doing that by effectively playing no attacking/creative players. Slater as the 10<laugh>Smith out wide when we’ve got Tufan and Sinik on the bench says that, unfortunately he wants us to play, with the players we have will mean we can dominate the ball all game and then they’ll be gifted an opportunity that we usually concede and then we don’t have the quality to break down a team who sits deep.

Whether it’s naivety or he’s trying to send a message I’m unsure but he’s persisting with a lot of underperforming players who likely won’t be here long term either

It’s baffling having sinik and tufan on the bench, I can understand it more away from home when he wants us to be harder to be beaten. However I think he needs to be a bit more open and creative at home. It’s great dominating the ball at home while teams sit off you and your making a million passes along the back 4. That doesn’t get us goals which doesn’t generate an atmosphere, we’ve put home fans in the north stand and changed to attacking the north stand in the second half. However we haven’t changed our style

We are where we are largely because Shota couldn't communicate, lost the dressing room and the players lost any kind of understanding they previously had.

We're 5 games in under new management and we've only lost 1. It's still early doors, some highly rated players to come in from injury. We're 2 points off the drop zone in December, but 2 wins puts us half way which is about where we'll probably end up.

Half the games still to go and I'd hope stability in the coaching setup, returnees from injury, increased understanding between the squad and a bit of trading in Jan would naturally lead to a better second half to the season than first.

I just don't think we need to be looking too much over our shoulders as the league is so tight and we look to have dealt with at least some of the issues we had in the last 5 games, which is progress.

He's drawing a baseline. If Sinik, Tufan, Allahyar, Oscar, Pelkas, Tetteh, Traore, Salah etc want to start they're going to have to earn the shirt off a grafters back.

Really? I thought he was expecting Longman to be on the overlap, but he was 20 yards behind him. Clearly Slater isn't totally averse to going into the opposition penalty area as it was him who won the penalty

Slater did nowt wrong. Even Tufan losing posession we don't concede if our centre backs do their job.

If I didn't know the result today looking at most of the comments I'd guess we had lost 5-0

We’ve built this narrative that Sinik and Tufan aren’t grafters. They’ve either not really started at all or not had a chance under a much improved system. Tufan was very much a grafter until he got injured at WBA, need to get him back involved for me, we don’t have a midfielder like him, capable of a killer pass and probably the squads best finisher

It's cos it felt like 2 points dropped. On the back of recent home form I. E 3 pts dropped last time out.

Some see the encouragement in performances against decent sides. Others just look at the table and **** themselves it seems.

He's disappeared at times but yeah, in the absence of Pelkas he starts for me.

Think Rosie wanted to reward Smith for his graft at Watford. Otherwise I think Tufan would have started today.

Thought today was a nothing game really. Both sides very cagey first half- don't think there were any efforts on target. We waste a golden opportunity to go ahead, and then fall behind to their first (only?) effort on target all game. (How we could do with a Ross Stewart)

Nice goal from Tufan gets us back into it, but we don't have the guile to break down their packed defence thereafter.

No idea why Coyle was taken off for Vale. Don't see what Vale offers - maybe Rosie just wanted to have a look at him?

Big positive for me is that Rosie seems to have made us harder to score against. Of course it's easier to hit teams on the break away from home. At home there is more of an onus on us to take the game to the opposition and that's where we are struggling at the moment, due to injuries and lack of options. Hopefully we will be looking at a couple of forward players in January.

Slater was completely anonymous today aside from winning the penalty. But he’s got a catchy chant and runs about so it’s never mentioned

I actually think he does a little more than that. But I do suspect he and doc were envisaged as ones to develop behind some of the bigger summer signings given the contracts handed out.

I suspect its about getting the new boys up to speed as far as shape, graft, defensive discipline is concerned as few will have played in such a relentless league where its vital attackers also defend without the ball to this extent.

No idea why this post attracted criticism. It's spot on.

With the appointment of Rosenior we've gone overnight from the softest team in the league, beaten routinely by even the worst teams, into a team that knows how to grind out a point. We've only lost 1 of his 5 games and that was a smash and grab freak result.

Clearly, we need to create more, but the players available make that very difficult. Smith, Slater and Longman as the 3 behind the striker doesn't exactly inspire. We can go on about Sinik and Tufan but they're left on the bench for a reason. We need more options in those positions in order to consistently create more. Until January we'll have to make do and that will mean often not having the firepower to win games.

But we're picking up clean sheets and draws where we wouldn't have previously. We are very obviously a better side than we were. Our form is distinctly mid table currently.
