For the second half of last season we saw Fryatt on form, scoring goals, making runs and playing like the talented player he is. Thats why myself and others find it hard to write him off as we know he has that talent. Mclean and Adebola we have seen nothing from ever at this club, maybe its to soon to write them off but we need to find a goalscorer if we want the play offs.
Nonsense. We only made one sub because the only fit players we had on the bench would have been more defensive, who would you have brought on? Fryatt was playing on the left side of a front 3 where he got loads of space (but kept ****ing it up in front of goal, as is becoming worryingly frequent). Yeah but it's every week. He was doing it in the Blackpool, Macclesfield, Leeds and Palace games that we lost at the beginning of the season and he's done it in the 2 games since our unbeaten run too. In short every game we've lost he could have won it by scoring simple chances. We keep dominating games but we don't score anywhere near enough for the domination we show because the strikers' finishing is so poor. Fryatt, McLean, Adebola, Barmby and even Simpson when he was here, they all have different strengths but all just miss the piss-easy chances. West Ham had two shots and scored both. I don't get why McLean and Dele can get so much stick when our 'best' striker misses so many piss-easy chances
I thought Fryatt had a good game generally, though obviously he did screw up his chances in front of goal. Adebola was great with his flick-ons, but with the ball at his feet, he resembles a giraffe. With our current injury problems, Nige has almost no options from the bench to change things, it shows how much we miss Barmby.
Having not seen the game but reading and listening to the reports, it seems that this is sometimes the problem having a young team. A side like West Ham comes along, and are out played for the most part, but just have the experience to take their chances when the come along. Obviously our main weakness is scoring goals, and if you look at the likes of Doncaster that took on Diouf, who scored 2 goals yesterday, probably made the difference between Donny winning or losing. We need to take on a recognised striker even if he is in his thirties, such as Philips at Blackpool who is still knocking them in. As NP said after the match yesterday we have not been out played by any side so far this season, so solve the goal scoring situation, and we have a great chance of being at least in the play off’s.
D'Ya know sometimes I wonder if some people go to the same game as me. I had McKenna and Evans down as equal MOTM, but McLean was not far off.
