Huddersfield head coach Mark Fotheringham would have been grateful to have the World Cup break to work with his squad as they bid to move off the bottom of the table.

Although losing 1-0 at Sheffield United last weekend came as a disappointment, there can be positives taken from having pushed the second-placed side in the division on away territory.

At some stage, however, Huddersfield will need to convert more points, something which will be helped if they can start scoring more goals in the final third.

Just three goals have been scored in eight games, although the Terriers have still managed to collect eight points from that run of fixtures.

That highlights the improvements made in defence with Huddersfield not conceding more than twice in a game since shipping three strikes in the opening 45 minutes at Luton Town on October 4.

At the same time, goals for Watford have dried up, the Hornets failing to score in three of their last four fixtures in the Championship.

On a more positive note, Slaven Bilic's side have kept three successive clean sheets, the foundations being laid for a more consistent period during the second half of the campaign.

Nevertheless, Watford possess one of the most talented forward lines in the division, rendering five goals in six matches as unsatisfactory.

Still, Watford remain in fifth position and with 14 points having been collected from seven matches, that return leaving the club just two points adrift of third-placed Blackburn Rovers.

Watford will be hoping it’s a case of third time lucky when Leigh Doughty takes charge of their trip to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The referee has officiated in two Hornets’ Championship games already this season and they did not win either – last month’s 1-0 defeat at home to Coventry City following the 1-1 draw at Rotherham United at the start of September.

Doughty has refereed 15 games so far this season, 12 of which have been in the second tier, and he has shown a total of 66 yellow cards and three reds.

If you are going, wrap up warm. The forecast suggests that it will only be just above freezing, with rain or snow showers.

My favourite away day. Alas kamikwase and dizzy Lizzy have scuppered any plans I may have had financially to go and the railways are on strike anyway. Ho hum.

Yes I went there a couple of years back, nice crowd and beautifully sited ground, I saw similarities to Watford in their aims.

For obvious reasons I haven't been there since our very first visit back in 1970. That was at Leeds Road - a rather large version of Vicarage Road, old and tatty - a few days after we lost to ManUre in the Cup 3rd/4th place play off.

We lost 1-3 in front of a very hostile crowd of around 27K

“Two changes for the Hornets, including a debut for Bacuna and Sarr's return”

Sarr has had his rest - time to deliver .

Bilic probably needs a win .

No Sky, I don't like paying rip off prices to watch advertisements and I am not keen on the owner.

Signed up for the Hive too. Weather and government incompetence and intransigence have scuppered my chances of going. Not confident, lack of fit/in form midfielders being the main cause for concern. And my perceived lack of success when watching on the Hive.

Nothing thus far to raise my confidence levels 7.00' in

I'm having to watch on Huddersfield's iFollow - nothing on the Watford one.
