If he wasn't so niave Croatia would never have got back into that game. We were completely on top. Take out Modric and we were through.

How did we not build on the early lead against Italy? Also our penalties were shockingly niave. He should have been on top of that and he wasn't.

France? Ok, that's in the football is a bitch sometimes category.

The other two were in the 'sometimes players choke under pressure and there's **** all the bloke on the sidelines can do about it' category.

Statistically, based on record of his predecessors, we wouldn't have even been playing past the last 8 of 3 consecutive torments in the last 6 years either

Perhaps Kane actually. I think he definitely goes under the radar and is a bit underrated, maybe because he plays for Spurs and never won anything, and also because he just looks so unorthodox as a footballer. But he pulls it off time and time again and I think his goal scoring record is well up there amongst some of the best to ever play in the premier league by any metric you judge it by, and that’s for a second tier club. He’s also joint all time top scorer for England.

I know people will point to other strikers in world football at the minute and say there’s plenty better (Haaland being the obvious one who clearly is a freak) but I reckon to be honest he probably leads the line for the majority of international teams.

Maybe now, yes as there are a lot of his type of striker who have been better coming to the end.if you look at the trophies shared between that 'golden generation' though I don't think we can boast that - not yet at least though there are some who yet could surpass them in time.

We are progressing under Southgate. Why would anyone want to change that unless they're distracted by the guff in the media or on twatter?

Any **** can rock up and say he should have done this or that after the event. Especially when they're getting paid handsomely for stirring up a **** storm for clicks or views.

A lot are failed managers themselves, or just professionally push agendas on behalf of their press baron overlords for a living.

Theres a lot of wedge involved in publicising a 'drama' relating to the England Team, which is why everything's blown out of proportion. Doesn't need to have to be about an actual member, just one of their shags ffs. Another thing that's ultimately held us back.

One of Southgate's big successes is the way he's handled the media and mitigated a lot of the 'us vs them' mentality in the squad. Obviously the ones who don't like him cos he's a bit of a leftie endlessly try to undermine him, but he's managed to keep a bit of balance in the media and the focus on the football for the most part.
