What I like about QPR is that they are always positive, sharp and play with pace and intention. I thought tonight they gave a very good account of themselves against Man City and were unlucky not to get something from the game. The reason for this thread is, I want what QPR have, or at least I think I do? I believe, if we (Stoke) played with the same purpose as they (QPR) do we would progess as a team and in my very humble opinion - pick up more points. QPR didnt spend hugh amounts of cash in either the promotion year (Bernie is a tight twat) nor in the last transfer window, yet Warnock was able to pick up some qulaity talent! My point is that with 6 months evolution from the championship, Warnock has managed to create a team/style of play (with uncertain backing from the board) that can and will challenge a top quality footballing team. Is it just the 1st season promise that alot of newbies show but rarely sustain, or is it the positivity of Warnock and his cany transfer dealings that are a better reciepe for results? I know some negative comments may point they still lost to Man City, but that was inevitable regardless, but they chose to play and they almost got rewarded. The alternative was to sit and absorb and hope for the best (Stoke Like) which would have resulted in loss anyway - something us Stokies are far to well aware of - and without being disrespectful to QPR, I would class our defence to be more robust to deal with such a challenge; or so it would appear on paper? I note that Warnock (and similiar managers) are capable of changing the style of play to suit and will always play to win, regardless of the challenge. I thought he did a very good job at Sheffied and was very unlucky to both be relegated and lose his job, notably with no transfer money, and seems to be setting the foundations for a very good challenge this season. Is it HIS positivity and HIS passion that attracts players who play and want to play football? All the best for the rest of the season (QPR) and I hope to see you on TV again - it was a pleasure to watch!
Thanks. I don't know why you guys dont play Tuncay, as he is a quality player. And please get a clean sheet tomorrow - I have Shawcross in my fantasy team!
good to see you have a large vocabulary. i didnt realise he had left. quality player for your ****ty little team.
Smithers, we have a plan A & a plan A, if plan A does not work, we revert to Plan A, if plan A of the reverting Plan A does not work , then we rvert to the original plan A that would of worked if plan A was the first or second plan A
Cheers mate. I was there today and we were superb. Deserved a point!! Would take a point now from our game at your place though!!
Well please check facts before you spout ****, sometimes it might help in the future. PS Shawcross is injured & will not play.
Thanks mate, big game in 2 weeks, we'll go into that with a bit of hope after tonight, Stokes a tough place to go and get a result though.
The fantasy team website had him down as 50/50. I already had Nasri and Taarabt from my fantasy team not playing, and my third sub is injured, so if Shawcross is also injured, I'll end up playing with 10 men
Cheers Smithers, us real clubs will always accept compliments from other real clubs, gratefully. I'd be delighted with 17th or better. Very much like the Brittania, we try to use our small ground to our benefit and turn it into a fortress. It's not quite working yet ( except against 'the scum' ) Good luck for the season, a point will be great for us in two weeks.
I fancy us to get something at Stoke. Newcastle showed that if you track back against the wingers they aren't up to much going forward and their defence is slow. They'll be a threat from set pieces as ever but we seem ok defending them now and someone has to send Huth off for elbowing the goalkeeper some day.
Did not our Gerry Francis play for QPR?? Always had some mavericks - Stan Bowles, Taarabt - when he feels like it and af course their totally bonkers Manager - Warnock. Love the guy, his hair tearing out antics and passion, good eye for a footballer - that young lad they got from Plymouth - for peanuts - Mackie looks a very good prospect. It will be an interesting game at the Brit as I am not too sure about their defensive capabilities, BUT we all know about OUR attacking capabilities, don't we!!!
Your Gerry Francis! Wow, that hits hard, but I guess he is now. He was England Captain while playing for us, and manager here twice. He was one of our best players ever, I will find it hard to ever regard him as anything other than our Gerry Francis!
I did a bit of a double take on this one too. I sincerely hope that after coming through the youth system in the 60's, captaining us and England in the 70's, and managing us to our best premiership finishes ( to date....) in the 90's, Gerry will be remembered more for his contribution to QPR than his time as an assistant at Stoke.....but it's probably just the old lags who remember now....
I'm sure you would. However if we play like we have done recently, then you should beat us comfortably. Newcastle indicated how poorly we played on Monday, that they didn't play all that well, and they still won comfortably, and deservedly so.
Indeed Nicky. Pump it 60 yards and hope for the best or throw the ball into the box and hope for an own goal or penalty. That's the tactics of Mr Pulis.
I wouldn't worry about them anymore Sooperhoop. Delap's throws are (to coin a Blackadder quote) about as frightening as a little rabbit with the word boo next to it.
