It's clear Albanians are gaming the system and misusing modern slavery laws. Albanian economic migrants are returned from most of Europe:

The idea that a processing centre in France would stop the people smugglers is comic.

It wouldn't stop them, but at least we can legitimately say, these guys are twatty illegal immigrants and have more reason to turn them back. You would also presume there would be less of them as asylum seekers now have a choice of applying legitimately rather than having no choice at all and chancing it

On the news this morning it said we reject half of the Albanians who ask for asylum and plan to send them back to Albania.

Which means 50 % are accepted as legal, so are not illegal at all.

I keep telling you all and you all ignore the fact . The EU countries, have far far bigger problems than we do over this.

Our problem is highlighted by the channel ...and the visible problem of crossing it.

Thousands and thousands of people are crossing into the EU across land borders.

This is a problem that so many of their countries are poor in money, resources and food. ..and made worse by climate change.

This will be a serious problem now forever, or until we can sort out resources and the climate and human nature

Yeah, but why do they all want to come here?

The Germany figure would presumably include the million Syrians they took in, but even aside from those they get three times the number of asylum applications that we do, as does France and Spain.

In 2020, the UK received applications for asylum for 37,550 people (including dependants). This is around three times less than the number of applications received each by Germany (124,380), France (103,370) and Spain (108,225).

Around 43 per cent of people seeking asylum in the UK in 2020 were women and children. Overall, eight per cent were children who had arrived in the UK alone without a parent or guardian.

Albania is not a war-torn country, it's part of NATO and waiting on EU membership. Germany and France reject virtually all asylum applications from its citizens.

I agree the diaspora from poorer countries is an indefinate problem. But most parts of Europe have the landmass to accomodate numbers. England, particularly the south of England, is one of the most densely populated areas in Europe.

So using Strollers figures.
We receive 37,000...of which the government are now saying 50% are Albanian.

Let's say 18,000

Half are legal.....so 9000 are not.

Over half are women and children 4500.

So we are dealing with under 5000, where other countries are dealing with hundreds of thousands..

But ours are visible in the small boats, and backs of refrigerated lorries.

As said..it is a huge problem, worldwide, which will only get worse...no idea how to solve it..

Using the BBC's numbers 45000 illegal immigrants have crossed in dingies so far this year alone
Not counting the ones who can't afford to pay gangsters and sneak in in the backs of trucks or the ones who lose their paperwork in airports

Next time you hear the droning voice of some plain suited Conservative MP saying there is no money to give working people a decent wage and that we are “all in it together”…..watch this…and get angry…get very ****ing angry.
They are playing you for ****ing mugs……never forgive, never forget

Agree with your sentiments about Mone, and I suspect this is just the beginning of looking into her financial affairs. She's no toff btw. Glasgow working class. But there must be questions as to why she was appointed to the Lords by the Tories.
