I was a right winger/striker, my mate who was also quite good and had trials at places (20 years ago now so dont ask me where) said i was the best crosser of the ball he had ever played with, problem was i had tryouts for the school team when I was 12 yes bloody 12, i set up 4 goals and scored 2 from the left wing, after the match the coach/teacher said, sorry, but you cant use your left foot (kept cutting inside), so i dont want you in the team, and froze me out, the bastard.

I couldnt tackle for **** mind lol

ricco is getting better with everygame he plays at left back

I don't think we now need to go for a as people call them natural left back because for starters for a good one it would cost us a canny bit and I think if Ricco is good enough to become a really good player for us in that position.

As I said he is getting better with everygame and his pace and ability on the ball is a huge bonus, its the other side we should be worried about

Watched MOTD and Ricco just lets Jones chip the ball round him, same as he does every time.
He is not a LB he never closes down and thinks standing still 4 yards from the oppo is his job done.
    We desperately need a LB.

If this were true, it would serve only te reinforce the reasons why our natioaj game is a million miles behind the rest of the world.

Would ricco get into the French, German, Spanish, dutch or Italian national teams? Of course he wouldnt.

At left wing or 2nd striker he has a place, at left back if is a liability.

I think he is doing well, I sometimes think some of the negative comments come from people who have never played the game. I am far from a great footballer but I have played at a reasonable level and with at least 1 player who is currently playing in the premier league. I play full back every weekend, its at a low level but the principals are still the same. Ricco IMO is getting there and he is far from a liability. He needs to work on his short passing as he still gives the ball away too much but for me he and Bardo are 2 really good full backs who are good at defending and attacking. Look at our defensive record, its not bad at all and Ricco has played almost every game, if it was terrible we would have conceeded far more goals.

So my negative comments on Ricco are incorrect because I never played professional football.
But your's are correct because you have played at a reasonable level!!!!

The reason we haven't conceded more goals is, he isn't the only defender, even someone like me, that has only played the game at a low level knows that!

Getting a bit sick and tired of this now, having to defend myself.
Vegas's post was provocative to say the least.
And now you, what the hell makes you think your opinion is more valid than mine?

When have I ever said I don't like Ricco?
I am voicing my opinion on him as a player.
Bardsley was doing a much better job there than Ricco has ever done.

As for Turner he is Championship quality at best.

Ricco, is he now the new Bruce where we can't question anything about him?

Mackems Rule, your entitled to your opinion of course and hell I am no professional footballer I was just using the fact I play full back every week as a reference for why I think he is doing alright. He has got his faults don't get me wrong, but I think he gets some unfair stick.

Ricco is a left winger or 2nd striker in a 4411 formation for me and nothing else.

I think he is a dreadful full back but he makes up for a lack of positional ability and overall defensive weakness through his undoubted pace. However, that doesn't make him any good imo in that position.

But your previous post quite clearly states that your opinion is more valid as you have played the game at a reasonable level and are still playing as a full back!
If the only people allowed to have their comments taken seriously are ex footballers, football is dead in the water.
All the ex-players moving into management and failing proves that having played the game doesn't mean they are any smarter than the average fan. (Just look at some of Bruce's team sheets for confirmation.)

Nepotism got Mourinho his very short spell as a footballer where he failed miserably but then went on to be a brilliant coach.

"because you dont like the player doesnt make him awful!!"

So your pre-conception of the above makes everything I say null and void?
When I voice an opinion it is based on what I have seen on the pitch over a long period of time. Not on likes and dislikes.

Everyone on here has players they don't rate, yet seem to think their slanging off them is fine, but anyone doing the same to their own pet player should be slapped down.
    Football eh?
