English football is set to undergo its biggest revolution since the formation of the Premier League in 1992 with the introduction of a football regulator in the new year. Despite years of lobbying against the change, the Premier League, which only two months ago was celebrating having killed off the threat, has failed in its mission, with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said to have signed off the regulator. Get ready for a clusterfuck run by the usual types who get these positions with no idea about football or business in general.
It will be the usual types who go from one well paid quango job to another and never accomplish anything.
Because it gives fans more say in the running of the game, will lead to a new owners and directors test that will hopefully be fit for purpose and will hopefully also see more Premier League money handed down to the lower leagues (which is why the Premier League clubs were against it).

It also proposed that fans should have a golden share in their club, which though having no financial value, would exercise a veto over major decisions, such as the sale of a stadium, relocation, a club joining a new competition'.
A golden share…Like in Germany where the fans of other clubs must all approve of selling their best players to Bayern Munich. And where nearly all the chairmen are CEOs of major companies. How many would have to vote for it to carry? (Just thinking of the apathy of the name change vote). Which fans would be the ones with a say? In Germany they pay up to €60 a year to be a member, Bayern have about 250,000 doing that.Can’t see us getting many going for that idea.
Hopefully it will do more then promise a lot and deliver little. As far as a fans golden share, where does it stop? What's classed as a major decision? Could they veto the sale of a player? Could they stop the sacking or instead push the sacking of a manger? Sounds to me a little like, " I've never done your job before, but I know your doing it wrong" type of situation More money flowing down the league's is always a positive, but I think something needs to be put in place that the money should be spent on youth development and or facilities etc as opposed to just players wages. Will be interesting to see the white paper and how it all pans out
It obviously won't involve the sale of players or appointing of a manager, it's just things fundamental to the club, a ground move, club name, club colours etc.
