The way I saw it, it was a foul on Saka but England had plenty of time to prevent a goal but decided to put three on Mbappe and one on Dembele and left Griezmen room in the centre to pass to (can’t spell his name) to have all the space in the world. The foul on Kane was outside the box, VAR viewed it and deemed it outside so can’t intervene as not dangerous play. The ref and VAR were soo corrupt that they awarded England 2 penalties to France’s none. Not saying they were not penalties but if they were corrupt they wouldn’t have awarded them. Always hear FIFA and UEFA don’t like us never pick us stuff. They choose Euros 96 and played the finals last year at Wembley. With all Englands games bar one at Wembley. FIFA are probably be corrupt in the Qatar decision granted though.
The referee was curiously (!) poor. He didn't see any foul on Saka. He didn't see any foul on Kane. He didnt see a full on shoulder charge on Mount. After looking at a monitor he sees a foul on Mount. He doesnt still see anything denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity which is a sending off offence. Mount was wiped out going for a cross he could have headed. If the ref thought that Mount couldn't get to the ball, the yellow card he gives to the defender is the wrong sanction, its not justifiable. The initial contact on Kane is outside the box, in regards to this if contact continues into the penalty area, a penalty kick should be awarded. The foul on Saka as per VAR protocol, offences committed by the goalscoring team in "build-up" = the goal can be reviewed.
I am in full agreement with this assessment! As I’ve said before, I find it hard to comprehend why he needed VAR to award the second penalty!!
I admit that my post comparing Southgate to LJ was not fair - at least LJ (the manager) won a trophy.... Bad llama - must try harder.........
It's not - but to get within one penalty kick whilst playing against 12 men (the referee) wasn't too bad IMHO. Kane missed the penalty - that's NOT good however anyone wants to dress it up, but the rest of the performance wasn't THAT bad.
So we successfully made the semis and the quarters in 2 successive campaigns? Maybe German or Dutch fans might have a view if that's successful or not!
England manager Gareth Southgate 'conflicted' about future after World Cup 2022 exit England manager Gareth Southgate 'conflicted' about future after World Cup 2022 exit - BBC Sport
I don't believe he's conflicted at all, he's looking for folk to back him in case he'll be headhunted for a Prem job. No chance. Only Mbappe and Griezeman would get in an England team. Arguably they looked a better team and better coached. We needed penalties to score, they didn't and overall deserved the win. Southgate's a lucky man to have such England talent. He'll waste it.
[QUOTE=" Southgate's a lucky man to have such England talent. He'll waste it.[/QUOTE] He has already, nice guy, but not very smart at times.
France vs Argentina. Really I don’t like either of them, but at a push I want France to win. I couldn’t stand seeing the Argentinian players including Messi singing about the Falklands after their victory - how pathetic.
55 mins in and France have been shocking.. Argentina have made them look very ordinary, something England failed to do..
Well, considering my disastrous record of supporting England first, then after we’ve been knocked out, every country I’ve got behind have gone on to lose…. …… plus the ‘success’ of my chosen club, who apart from a few Gloucester cups and Football League trophies have failed to win a major trophy or reach the top flight for more than 40 years, I’m wondering if I could change fortunes by switching club allegiance to Bristol Rovers or Cardiff - and join the Scots in throwing my weight behind any team England faces……… That should confuse the football gods…….. a kind of a ‘secret agent’ fan..
