are they any elite level english centre backs coming through? feel like every other position is stacked
We’re also forgetting France were missing some of their very best players. Benzema, Pogba, Kante, L Hernández, Kimpembe.
England deserved to win the game they were the better team. They should have had 3 penalties not just 2. We had numerous chances that could have gone in. Did not think that there was poor performer in the team. Mcguire had an excellent game yes supposedly did not pick up his man for their winner. Kane was a class above at times. MBappe was a non entity., And Southgate should stay, there has. not been a better manager since Ramsey. Onwards to Euro 24.
i mean in my opinion pogba and kante of 2022 would have made france weaker i don't rate kimpembe, he's as much a liability as upamecano hernandez and benzema are bigger misses however greizman plays diff when its giroud up top and for me, greizman ran the show yesterday so only hernandez is a huge miss for france really but of course a top level forward like benzema is always a plus
He’s had three chances and blew the lot of them, this one was, with this squad our best chance, and again his crap reactive subs lost us the game, and of course winning the thing is the whole point of entering, why ****ing bother otherwise, and if your happy with a last 8 place, then there’s something wrong with you.
Wha does that even mean, taken us closer, that is meaningless if you keep losing like he has, he’s lost three, and this squad was the best, it’s insanity to let Southgate do the same thing over and over and expect something different.
**** me your easily pleased, what is it with the English mentality, not mine, he’s done ok, and has a nice shaped beard and we win a few games so he must be the best we have. He’s a ****ing loser and will never work again when he leaves England, how can you be satisfied with England losing.
That hasn’t even remotely answered my question. Do you think England should sack their manager every time we don’t win a tournament?
France have to be the favourites now. We could have met anyone in the quarters it's just the luck of the draw we were narrowly beat by the probable finalists at this stage. We played well. Unless you get worked up by a glorified regional friendly 'tournament' we've been consistently 'better' under Southgate than anyone else in my living memory. The squad has its best years in front of it still. Unlike perhaps other countries who may yet still to be beat by France or Argentina in this year's world Cup. .
Which is why looking just at the stage you exit is foolish. If everything goes to plan in a World Cup, the top seeds should meet each other in the quarters. We were unlucky to get perhaps one of the two teams most people wouldn’t have wanted in our quarter of the draw. We did better than I expected. I was very much of the opinion this should be Southgate’s last tournament before it started. Now I’m not so sure.
We're equal on ability as anyone. But we lack the kind of experience last night taught us. We're still a very young team. You can't say that of France or Argentina, one of whom will likely lift the trophy. If you get beat in the knockout stages against a future finalist or current holders, then it's just bad luck you met them in that round. Future is in front of us though, and it's probably last knockings for the likely finalists.
