Oh well you'll love the next one, when the games are all either in the middle of the night or before the sun rises and we've got 3 hosts and 40 more games you'll miss due to the time difference.

Kane isn't quick but he isn't immobile and is very good at dropping deep and playing defence splitting passes but for England he could probably do with staying more in the traditional CF role unless we are playing someone who presses high and he has quick players either side .

If not Kane who as i see no viable alternative .

This is England's problem. Everyone was saying England had depth at the WC, but there are a few positions it was almost 'who else do you pick'. Kane, Maguire, Stones and Shaw. The last 3, whilst you could say they haven't done much wrong for England there is a question of surely we could do better... but honestly who else would you pick instead of them.

England's depth is in about 3 positions, RB and the two support strikers.

even CM has little depth hence basically we went in with just 4 one of which had barely played this season
oh and took players which Southgate never had any intention of playing ( Maddison & TAA ) if there was any possible alternative .

If it was a normal 23 man squad rather than 26 then Maddison and TAA wouldn't have been in the squad

still proves another CM should have been taken as what was meant to happen if Bellingham and Rice weren't available for the same game is beyond me .

Phillips? Or we would have gone to a back 5 with 2 CM.

Thing is, say should have got another CM into squad, who was there? JWP was only one springs to mind

Yeah, England were the better team for long periods, especially in the second half. More shots and more shots on target. France got a load of yellows with desperate/cynical challenges when England were breaking.

Its weird when a side has been awarded two penalties can have a legitimate claim to feeling hard done by from poor refereeing decisions!

It was a very close game, decided by (cliche alert) fine margins and not just the referees decisions. I think first half England suffered from a lack of belief, but realised that the French could be got as as the game wore on and the long balls from Pickford were actually working. It seemed a strange decision to take Saka off when he was terrorising Hernandez. and would have thought that if he did have to come off, i'd have had Rashford running at him rather than Sterling who had been away from the squad and not training.

I think what we really needed was a CB who could play out from the back more to break the press. Maguire can hit a few cross field balls and Stones was supposed to be a ball playing centre half, but done precious little of it.

Is "the next @Garlic Klopp" going to be an overused title like "The Next Gerrard" applied to anyone and everyone with even a slight commonality with GK?

There's only one Garlic Klopp, you can't be the next Garlic Klopp.

Not sure... He usually rides around on his bicycle in his blue hooped shirt and beret with a garlic-string necklace around his neck and carrying a baguette... But I don't know if he ever makes garlic bread of the two.
