A disappointing result against a very mediocre West Ham .We had enough of the play in the first half to have put the game to bed.Biggest problem was we couldn't put in a decent cross into the box throughout the whole game .We played a neat passing game but to very little effect and most things broke down when the ball reached Adebola.Someone should give him the keys to the city and ask him to close the door on his way out.Matty was again lacking in his finishing and should have had at least 2 goals. The forwards apart from McClean looked a yard of the pace and Fryatt seems unable to beat his man ,one on one.On the whole the team didn't appear to be totally up for it and had a lethargy about them even though none (apart from Adebola) of them had a bad game ...........just ineffectual. Robert Green saved the hammers on numerous occasions and if that is a sample of their game I would rate them behind several of the other contenders for promotion.I can't see Big Sam,s kind of football being tolerated for too long by the West Ham hierarchy. What they had to offer today wasn't very threatening or exciting and yet they won 2-0 .... WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE OUR PLAY OFF HOPES!! We need to strengthen and Quickly especially up front ..........drop Fryatt ,Lose Adebola and have a bench with more options than a defender and 2 midfield players when we need to chase a game.
It sounded like Nigel had told the lads - given them the Black Spot - at half-time. They came out and gave it away.
Thought it was a decent game. west ham will win this league ...we have every chance of a play off place , just not auto promotion .. Then again who knows ....
said it for weeks, but our strikers just arent good enough for a top 6 finish...that wasnt a world class performance from green it was abysmal finishing, he shouldnt have had chance to get anywhere near either of fryatts chances.. people keep reeling off we had 14 shots to there 2 and lost 2-0 like its something to be proud of, it isnt..
Seems that NP is looking at strengthening during the break. http://www.hullcityafc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10338~2507159,00.html Lets just see what happens.
West Ham are a decent team with lots of quality! Their wage bill and having Carlton Cole on the bench says it all. 14 to 2 shots in City's favour tells a bit of a story really of which their 2 shots were of course goals. Nothing to worry about especially when we played some good football today. We have a game in hand compared to the teams around us. No need to panic at all-lots of positives!
Macheda would be perfect for us at the moment. We desperately need a striker with a bit of quality who can consistently put the ball in the back of the net which Fryatt isn't doing at the moment. Let's hope that Adam and Warren can do their work.
I'm feeling okay tonight...My Sky Sports fantasy team has bagged 45 points today and I've still got tomorrow to come. Top of the league....well nearly..
PS...If West Ham do go up...They'll be down by the time the 2012 Christmas trimmings go back in the box.
Really?? Sounds like sour grapes to me. I dont like Allardyce's style but i would put a good wedge on him adding to his squad and being comfortably clear of relegation.
I think we saw evidence today that West Ham will be in the top 2 come May, they didn't play all that well, but had the ability to punish us in a 15 minute spell and then close us down. With the shots we had we should have scored, Fryatt should have buried that chance and stuck into the corner away from Green but the other two chances were good saves from Green. I didn't think Adebola had a bad game, I was disappointed with Brady when he came on as he didn't seem interested. But there's plenty for us to be positive about from today, it's not very often I don't feel so downbeat after losing a game. The Southampton game may determin whether we are good enough to challenge the top 2, but if we can take points off Derby, Leicester and Middlesborough then maybe we can expect to challenge the play off places.
I thought Brady looked a million times more interested than he did at Barnsley! Hopefully dropping him will have done some good in the long-term. As for getting more players in, I just hope NP can find a striker who can hit the target.
When Stewart comes back against Derby, Fryatt needs to be back on the bench. We'd be leading the Division if he'd put away half the chances he's missed. I'd like to see Waghorn and Stewart with McLean subbing in. We must have outshot the opposition 5 to 1 this season and only 14 goals in 14 games...4th worst in the CCC I think.
I'm surprised at Fryatt getting so much stick, complaining about him not converting enough of his chances is fair enough, but I thought he played well and many of our other chances came through him, I certainly wouldn't drop him.
