Morocco certainly aren’t looking like an easier semi for France or England. Conceded 1 goal (an OG) and beaten off Belgium, Spain and Portugal. Can see a Croatia 2018 like run for them. Remarkable performances.
Can’t see it happening, but would’ve been decent odds pre World Cup. Now Portugal are out I hope Argentina win it as you just know some complete idiots in 20/30 years time will say Messi wasn’t all that because he didn’t win a World Cup, despite the standard in general being way lower than a league match for him
With the various Saints and ex Saints at the World Cup, you’d have long odds at it being Boufal and Lovren that were the ones in the semi finals.
The one niggling concern I had was Southgate might go to a back five so I’m very happy with an unchanged 4-3-3, I do think we can get at this France side.
The Moroccan result epitomises everything that cup football should stand for. The plucky underdogs standing firm and seeing off teams that are higher in the ratings than they are. Absolutely buzzing with the result and their joy in celebration.
When people will look back and think of Messi and the average league game he played it will not be France. So unless I have misunderstood which player we are talking about the point still stands. Even more so actually as the French league is even poorer than the Spanish one with an even bigger quality gap between the side he plays for and the others than he enjoyed for most of career
