Yep, that's the nut. The Christian Fundamentalists of the Bible Belt are extremely true to scripture, compared to most Christians. They don't go into the whole 'stoning disobedient kids' bit, but nobody's perfect.
TBh i cant speak for all the Bible Belt and its christian fundamentalists have you been to america and met them or are you just jumping to conclusions? stoning disobedient kids???????
There are no conclusions to jump to. Check out the Texas Education Board. You'd get along famously. Deuteronomy 21:18-21 English Standard Version (ESV) A Rebellious Son 18"If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they discipline him, will not listen to them, 19then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, 20and they shall say to the elders of his city, 'This our son is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.' 21 Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear, and fear. Sound like stoning disobedient children to you?
So despite not knowing anything about it, you jump to media exaggeration? Why? really???? will have to check out that verse it does mention '....and all israel shall hear, and fear' so jews???
Where did I say that I know nothing about it or that I was relying on the media? You can go purely by their own stated aims. Their well behind the whole Intelligent Design movement. Deuteronomy is from the Old Testament, so it's the Torah, yes.
so based on your understanding of a few you feel comfortable labelling Dangerous loons, the lot of them. or do you think that some of those inside the bible belt may actually disagree but dont get the attention? seems to me that you like to point the finger as you did to me when you said So despite not knowing anything about it, you jump to media exaggeration? , which was a misunderstanding of what I said yet are prone to do exactly what you question/accuse others of. are you athiest per chance?
Some disagree, but then they aren't fundamentalists, so they fall outside of the group that I'm talking about. Seems to me that you still don't know what you're talking about. And you still don't understand what an atheist is.
The history? It's in the Bible and the Torah. Why stoning? No idea. Maybe it's like the modern executions, where they have several people involved in the final button push, so that nobody really knows who did the killing?
of course it would/does. as I say quick to throw allegations and ask questions. whilst doing the same yourself I dont have to understand athiesm to 'know' athiests do I? especially as you spend so much time arguing about Islam and other religions without knowing them. Besides the mockery and self importance usually gives it away with wannabe athiests who are in fact anti god fundamentalist athiests who call all christians in america's bible belt loons?
I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Anybody that believes in the literal interpretation of Biblical scripture is clearly a nut, though. That makes absolutely no sense, either. Quick to do two things whilst also doing those two things? What? There's no such thing as a fundamental atheist. The concept is ridiculous, just as an atheist, who by definition don't believe in any god/s, being anti-god.
the 'no one knows who did the killing' is often used as a reason but i doubt anyone knows what is weird IMO ia that the Bible mentions stoning as a form of punishmnet around 18 times The Quran mentions it Zero times yet today we associate it with Islam and muslim countries strange?
Stoning, or lapidation, is a form of capital punishment whereby a group throws stones at a person until the person dies. No individual among the group can be identified as the one who kills the subject. Stoning is an ancient form of capital punishment. There are historical reports of stoning from Ancient Greece.
