I buy a big bag of chia from Amazon. Have it every week day in overnight oats for breakfast. My cholesterol levels are low, my heart rate and blood pressure were described as those of an 'athlete' when I was last checked. And, importantly, my gut and digestive system is in top nick. Not saying this is all down to chia, but I will keep on swearing by it unless all the above changes.
Problem with that, most cereal are full of sugar, even some brands of porridge are too, especially the main brands.
anyway, I'll repeat what I said on another thread, I aint throwing my Jaffa Cakes out, no way jose! please log in to view this image
Iirc the Scots porridge oats are high in sugars, for porridge that is, we buy Flahaven's Organic, taste really nice too. With regard the chia seeds, just read the sheet a nutritionist gave me, she said you need at least a table spoon a day or a mix of that measure of those and flax seeds, to get that amount from what you posted earlier you would need a lot of that mix to get that amount, being seeds they're high in calories but also good fats, if calorie intake is an issue you maybe better getting them as separate items. Also 10 Almonds and 5 walnuts a day were recommended too, again high in calories so watch the amount of those you eat.
Some folk get obsessed about calories and fat etc. But of course you need these essentials for health. Like you point out it's about making sure that the calories and fat you get in your diet is rich in nutrients.
Brill they got that porridge, so will substitute it in the shop for that, cheap as well. I'll change the seeds to chia / flax just as you've said then as well. I hate seeds and I aint eating no nuts, unless they are salted and called peanuts lol. I'll find out more when I see the nurse next week, weight is no problem for me, but even so, I need to start easing off a bit. I generally eat healthy, because I love fruit, veg, salads - but I've gone overboard on the confectionary since giving up smoking. I don't even have takeaways!
Takeaways are a big no no, flax and chia combo is best. I love nuts, every kind, giving up salted and dry roast was difficult. Pears are the best fruit to eat for cholesterol.
My kid said to me last night, he goes dad you don't even eat takeaways....well maybe I might start! lol Cheers for the advise Gessa, much appreciated.
