When we lost Cabaye we lost all our organisation in midfield and couldn't keep the ball. Pardew needs to have a word with Gosling and Sammy who weren't particularly good when they came on. Luckily we have 2 weeks off to prepare physically and physiologically for our next 3 fixtures...

Sammy was awful first 15 mins when he come on, just looked out his depth completely, fair play to him he stepped it up and ended up doing well. Arfa did what was needed, he played well. Gosling done well and made a cracking save.

    You kidding me?

ALL of your glycogen stores are virtually empty after a whole night without food. It's one of the many reasons why you feel so groggy when you wake up - low blood sugar levels.

These athletes burn thousands of calories in a single game. It's more intense exercise than many of us are capable of, and it's why they train for hours and hours every week. They need to fill up with a LOT of carbohydrates before the match to ensure they have enough fuel, otherwise they run out and start burning other reserves - such as fat, which would make them feel groggy, slow and lacking in energy.

Varies from person to person. However, Ba won't have any glycogen in his system after a full nights rest, and if he has no food to replenish the stores in time for the match, he'll suffer.

But obviously, the fact that he's played poorly every single time he's fasted (including today) is just a mysterious coincidence <ok>

The back 4 were all solid.

Guthrie was immense, MOTM for me.

Marveaux was looking OK until he got injured.

Gutierrez looked like he was still recovering from Stoke, but who can blame him, I can't actually think of any other players we've had recently with such a great work ethic.

Gosling did OK, especially when he had a go in goal :p

Hatem and Sammy both did really well when they came on. Hatem especially kept the ball very well and looks to be gradually getting back up to speed.

Just came back from the finals.. unfortunately we lost 4-1 and ended with a man sent off! Also I started on the bench and only had 10 mins to play.. I also silped badly and that's how they scored there 4th goal.. but oh well that's life.

So how did we play? What happend to Cabaye and Marvo? Was Raylor's goal THAT good? Who was our MOTM?

Played class first half, Everton dominated second, but defended brilliantly. Not sure how either picked up their injuries, but both should be OK for next game I would have thought. Raylor's goal was the best of the season imo and MOTM was Colo imo although Guthrie, Jonas, Saylor, Simpson were superb too.

    Also, Gosling was terrible

Yep :) just think, if Sunderland avoid defeat and Man City lose to QPR, we could be level on points with them next week with a win :p haha

We were much better first half, the second half was a shambles, no formation whatsoever. Leon Best was annoying today, caught offside way too many times. Coloccini has to be my man of the match, Guthrie had an outstanding game also.
Is anyone else surprised that Distin can manage to run, the man is a beast he's enormous, more like a heavyweight contender than a footballer.

Sitting here enjoying a bottle of Pouilly-fume listening to the radio and enjoying myself.

The muffins are good, the wine is excellent and the league position is immense.

Have to crack on with dinner tonight. The firework party was moved from tomorrow to tonight! 4 hours notice is all I got!!

Father in law is a Liverpool fan so I'll enjoy ribbing him over a mulled cider or two :)

Ground out another result. Needed that game to go our way going into these next 3 games. very happy. Hope Cabaye's alright. Can't be doing with Cabaye, Tiote, Marv, Ober ALL out :( Thank god for the international break!

Also, saw a replay of Raylor's goal. My GOD that was lovely. The difference between him and Jose? ;)

Stand out performers for me today were Colo, Ba, Gutierrez and Raylor

Absolutely class in everything they did 95% of the time.

The disappointing players were Gosling, who looks utterly out of his depth, Marveaux, who looks far too puney for the premier league, and Ben Arfa who is still trying to do everything himself, worrying and disappointing from the latter.
