So after what has been probably been one of the greatest Group Stages at a World Cup what do FIFA decide to do? Yep, that's right, completely f*** it up next time around with 16 groups of 3 teams...!!
Not for me,the semi final win at Stamford bridge has never been beaten. The scenes in sarf London that afternoon were just unbelievable for me.☺
I quite like it. It means each group game means more and there's an extra knock out stage. 16 groups of 3 sounds silly on paper but actually it should make for more dramatic group games.
Those that criticise the nations league need to remember to was brought in to replace friendlies. It was never supposed to become a prestigious tournament that players would be desperate to win. So long as it produces more entertaining and meaningful matches than friendlies gave us, then it was a good idea and is a success.
Damn, we're going run out of letters at this rate. But having three teams would potentially increase the number of upsets as one loss like Argentina's early on would be even harder to surmount.
Exactly. The nations league is objectively better than friendlies and when there has been situations where teams could be relegated or win the group in the final match day, it has been quite dramatic. I've literally seen people praising the format on Twitter in the past. However, I think taking it less seriously this time round impacted people's enthusiasm for it. Understandably so.
Like I said, I know technically it's NOT a dive. But it is a dive. Anyone with eyes can see that. The game is just geared towards cheating and it's a sad state for it to be in.
