Really don't think Liverpool or Man Utd will be bought by middle Eastern consortiums so you'll not need to worry about it. My guess is it will be Ratcliffe at Man Utd and Red Bird Capital for you lot. Realistically sovereign wealth fund is limited to Dubai and Bahrain with an interest in football and Dubai failed to buy us and when they came back to the table **** themselves and walked away the second they knew of Saudi interest saying they couldn't and wouldn't compete with them. Ratcliffe works for Man Utd as a supporter so may work for them. Red Bird already own 10% of Liverpool so would guess that would be more of the same for them.
I offered $25 and a photo of my left nipple but FSG hasn't returned my email offering to buy the club.
I don't think Red Bird have the funds. They're also majority owner of another Champions League team already so would need to sell up. I think the most likely scenario is that FSG don't sell at all (in the short term) but a sovereign wealth fund second most likely.
A bit left field, so forgive my totally crazy radical idea, but I guess the selfish greedy gits could try to create some kind of a breakaway 'super league' instead, to help preserve their status among the rich boys. But that's probably a bit too far fetched to ever be a real discussion.
Well that's another problem. City can count on winning the league in England most years. PSG can count on winning the league in France most years. Put the elite in Europe together, sure they'll get more money and value of clubs go up... Which is great... But only one team can win... Instead of them all getting to win separately. If this is a showcase to improve the profile of the country, it's not as ideal as winning their domestic league. Unless they play domestic and super league... But UEFA will never allow that.
UEFA would not allow both teams to enter. Against the rules. One team would have to forfeit their place.
I meant Liverpool won't be qualifying anyway, glory days over and back to the late 90's early naughties for you lot
We won a treble in 2001. But yeah, without funding we won't remain competitive for ever. Money will always eventually lead to success or lack of success without money. Took City a while after they got rich, but the success eventually followed.
Get us a league cup and I'm happy. Even before Ashley I had an inkling that we may not win anything in my lifetime. 14 years of underfunding whilst watching the likes of Swansea, Portsmouth, Leicester and Wigan pick up trophies has lowered expectations somewhat.
And as an average you've had a better team than those listed above for much of the last couple of decades. I really didn't think I'd ever see Liverpool win the league again in my lifetime... Until we did. I think the only way we will again is with money infusion.
