So to quantify how ‘insane’ that 29 out of 34 stat is.

the chances of getting 5 or less heads in 34 coin tosses - which is what this is essentially - is roughly

    0.002 %

    or 1 in 50,000

I was at Wembley when we won the Cup and at Wolves when we lostit was reported in a Sunaday paper that we had offered a bribe to the Wolves playersvia MIKE OGRADY In the first minute Bernard Shaw turned a cross with his hands for a corner .It was a blatant penalty .THE REFEREE GAVE A CORNER
    YORATH WS PLAYING CENTRE FORWARD
tHE REF PLAYED ABOUT 15 MINUTES EXTRA TIME BUT WE JUST COULDNT EQUALISE
Incidentally in the early 50s we played Cardiff twice in sucessive season at Cardiffin the third round we lost 2-1 each time

Also, you can’t compare the two eras. That great Revie team played 42 matches to the 38 played now, cup games, replays etc. And on a **** heap / mud fest or sand, not the bowling green pitches of today. Had only one sub allowed compared to five. Actually when I think about that, to play a “weakened” team when you can put 5 subs on is criminal, a squad should be able to cope with all the league and cup games when you can make that many changes in a game.

Agree with all that. Fans are being sold a pup. Applies to a lot of clubs too

And how many more trophies would that Leeds team have won if they’d had more breaks… larger squad etc. we were utterly shafted in 1972 and other occasions by the fa due to the revie/hardaker spat - BUT if anything that just proves how much of an edge being fresh gives you.

I used to love the fa cup - that Saturday was always a great social event. But I haven’t watched an fa cup final in years. I don’t know who won it last year. It’s sad but it is what it is. The money is in the premier league and clubs need money - so it will always be the priority. If next year we’re safe midtable at the start of January then I’d hope we give the cup a crack. But as we’re not, I’m ok with the club using it/not using it to whatever benefit they perceive to premier league survival.

We play West Ham on the Wednesday, Cardiff Saturday, Villa the following Friday. I know which two results, of the three, I’m most concerned about.

I saw my first game at Elland Road in 1967 I believe. My dad took me to see Leeds beat Rotherham for a mid-week game. I think it was the league cup, and I remember right Terry Cooper scored the winning goal (only time I ever saw him score).

Yeah, but so did the other teams...the concept of squads with at least two top quality players in each position, and team rotation were many years away.
