Taking nothing away from the U.S.A because they gave their all...We were utter ****e and didn't!! Deservedly booed off the pitch because we were 2nd best all over it.
Really poor that. Reminds me of the game against Scotland last summer. England were so sloppy and lethargic both with and without the ball. USA weren’t great either but England played like it was a warm-up friendly. No urgency to score. Foden must be sat on the bench fuming.
It was the same starting 11 as the game against Iran, a game where we were "sensational, fantastic, brilliant and a hundred other expert pundit superlatives.
Same story, apply to many occasions, 'what did you think of my performance, rendition, etc', 'darling, no-one could have done it quite like you...'. Not sure if it's fact or urban myth.
Exactly what I thought, the only plus tonight was I wasn’t surrounded by pissed up blokes in Ginger wigs and kilts.
I did say when you predicted a 4-0 win it would be closer than that. I know also said either that or we will muller them. But I was right.
I mean, I get it. We’re pretty much through with a draw. I’m not happy to watch it though. Hopefully Wales will be easier to break down as they’ll be desperate for a win. Worth remembering that all games from now on we’ll be playing teams that won’t be able to sit back as much.
Southgate needs to drop this False 9 stuff with Kane and play him as a proper striker. He drops deep to do Mount’s job for him and ends up getting in the way, then when one of the wingers looks up to cross, there’s no **** in the box because our striker is closer to the halfway line than the opposition’s box.
USA were pretty good, they'd done their homework, neutralised us. We were poor, no movement, imagination or ability to adjust to the circumstances. Seen it before.
Apparently it happened with Sir Tree. Such things were often attributed to him as he was something of a character. Always stuck in my mind because of his unusual name. A bit like the story of the Times critic saying a play was simply the greatest pile of rubbish he had ever seen. The following week the posters outside the theatre read “simply the greatest. The Times”.
Very slow and pedestrian, seemed at times that we couldn't work out their press and ended up side to side at the back with no ideas . Looked marginally more threatening when Grealish came on, but for the love of god what the fk does Mount offer ? Has he got the black on Southgate ? Plus side I thought big H had his best game in a while, headed everything when needed. I'm sure we'll be better against the Taff's, and dont forgot we did exactly the same against the Jocs in the Euros, but more urgency needed, and more threat.
