Agree entirely, my MOTM too. Barely put a foot wrong, looked composed with the ball and happy to play an easy pass which has often been my biggest criticism of him. Key moment for me was the absolutely correct decision to foul Leighton Baines after Sammy gave the ball away. It earned him a booking but Baines was otherwise in on goal, great decision making and nothing came from the free kick in a naff area.

Danny Simpson on the other hand...

Danny Simpson looked good when the ball was near him, but kept going missing. How can you go missing from ****ing full back? Jonas didn't have a clue what was happening...

I saw him cover Colo at CB at least twice. I was a bit confused at that point.

Simpson had a quality game. At the rate he's improving it's a shame he looks like he's on his way out.

He's the type who plays well for 5 games then **** for 5 games. If he plays like this for the rest of the season then I would be gutted to see him leave, but not too sure if he will keep this form in

Guthrie played very well, he held the midfield together, Gosling was really disappointing. Jonas was shambolic, he infuriates me so much, he was fantastic monday night and hopeless today...

Simpson had a great game. Starting to wonder who the hell Santon is going to replace.

Did you notice Ben Arfa seeming a bit gutted for having to wait to come on? Pardew had to give him a little chat and promise 'in 5 minutes'. Hope the likes of him and Santon aren't going to get too arsey about having to wait.
The fact that we have this sort of selection problem is really stunning!

Not a big fan of Guthrie as a rule but he has been outstanding the last couple of games and was MOTM for me today. Hope he keeps this form going, especially if Tiote or Cabaye are out for any period of time. Couple more displays like this and I will be a converted fan of his.

Agree with Colly Ameobi as well, Guthrie's best decision today was to take one for the team with that yellow card conceding free kick. Take a bow Guthers you were class today!

Today I saw something on several occasions from Guthrie that I hadn't seen before, his holding play in midfield was very similar to Tiote's. Taking on one or two before turning and covering then distributing it out to one of the flanks. Very similar to Tiote's play and I wouldn't be surprised if this was a conscious effort.

Yeah he did seem alot more solid in the holding role than I have come to expect. Like you say he has hopefully taken notice of how the master does it and is learning from the better player. He is still young so hopefully he will continue to learn and develop.

He is out of contract at the end of the season I think? If so he has done his chances of getting a new contract no end of good today.

Agreed, Guthrie has surprised me because I personally thought the guy was ****e. And I was really disappointed to see him in the starting 11 against Stoke, but he's proved me wrong. And I'm happy to say that <laugh>

I also agree on Obertan, you don't realise how much you need something until it's gone and this is definitely the case with Obertan his pace is epic and I can't wait for his return. Nice long two week break now though, well needed aswell the lads look shattered. <ok>

We should offer him a two or three year contract extension right now. He's invaluable cover for Cabaye and Tiote, and has shown in the last three games that he can hold his own in the team when needed.

The reason I say give him the contract now is that when Tiote and Cabaye are back he'll be back on the bench and may not sign, give him the contract now when he's happy.
