The German economy is heading for recession and they have to bankroll most of the bankrupt EU to buy their exports. Anybody heard when Germany is going to become totally independent of Russian gas? It is killing their much vaunted manufacturing base having to ration it. According to Bloomberg’s measure of recession, the EU as a whole is already in one.

 

If Labour do not get a majority in 2024 then they can either go it alone as a minority government or form a coalition. If they get into bed with the Illiberal Undemocrats the price is probably a new EU Referendum. If they get into bed with the SNP the price is probably a new Independence Referendum.

The day that we get Proportional Representation in this country it is truly finished as PR is the route to weak national government as demonstrated everywhere that has it.

 

A problem there as things currently stand is that Labour have said no to both rejoining the EU and another Scottish Referendum. Then again, they've probably changed their stance yet again on one or both of those several times this morning.
