We're 100% not signing a striker. From the noises it's two players, maximum three, in Jan. Midfielder, Winger and Right Back (cover). The club might decide we have the luxury of just going for youngers/unknowns for all three positions. Certainly at right back it's the Leeds and West Ham understudy's who have been linked. Lot of South American talent touted for midfield. But maybe we'll go for it with Diaby, Gakpo, Maddison, or those types. Striker, though? No. I certainly don't think we're lauding Wilson, paying £60m for Isak then looking for a £100m striker.
Apparently Ronaldo has an option with us. I cannot believe this. It would go against everything we have built.
Get to **** ronaldo Don’t want him anywhere near our club And that goes for any over paid has been looking for a last pay day If u want that look 7 miles down the road!
He's **** now anyway and that's his real problem. He isn't good enough to get his own way like he had his entire life.
I don't think we'll do much unless its bargain deals this Jan..... Possible moves for Tielemans with his contract running out, Thuram for the same reason, maybe Pedro as wouldn't break the bank
Do we need someone who can’t get a regular start for his current side? He seems to have gone downhill this season
Think we just trust in Howe. He’s always had a lot of ability, maybe his head was turned and he doesn’t want to be there. Or maybe he’s not good enough.
Anyone free is rumoured for us. When Chelsea got the money they would have gone in for a signing like this, ie when they signed players based on name only like Vernon, Shezchenco, Crespo etc regardless of whether they'd fit it. Fortunately we're not that dumb - 38 year old winding down his career with an ego the size of the cosmos? Ain't happening.
We'd (the club) take him without a doubt and don't delude yourselves otherwise. Three points: 1) Ronaldo would be a great signing in terms of commercial revenue - I'd take him on a 18 month contract. All you have to do is keep him happy for 18 months - turns Newcastle into a club with a world wide reputation, if we can sign him we can sign anyone basically. H'd sell more shirts in the second half of this season than the rest of the club put together over the year. 2) If you can convince him he can play a part here for a year and then offer him some form of Ambassador role once he retires he might look at it and accept he's not the main man but still be a big part and get regular-ish game time. He scored 24 times in 38 games last season and he's not become **** overnight, he's still a good player. 3) Ronaldo or Murphy? Ronaldo or Wood? Young-uns can learn from him and he can pass along experience of winning titles and cups. If we were to make Europe next year he'd be a big player in that season in terms of his experience and rotating with strikers/wingers and could help in the cups this year. I get people don't like the "ego" or whatever of the man but end of the day he's a five time Ballon'dor winner, won multiple leagues and cups at club and international level and has a huge amount of commercial value as well.
If Wood scored the goal to win us a cup, poor Mick O'Toon would be eating every single hat in the country.
4) disrupt the team spirit that has been built 5) I just can’t get passed that stupid cheesy grin So it’s a no from me too
