agreed but with the proviso it is a mixture of solid performers and ones who might break through imo. ps Carvalho has had a wasted half season and should not be played in CM but his normal position is already well stocked in Nunez , Jota and Diaz and his 2nd (no 10 ) we barely play at all and i'm beginning to think it ay end in tears unfortunately as their is a good player there .
Maybe so. And maybe re-signing firmino is just blocking that cos nunez and jota should compete for no 9 shirt Diaz and carvalho for lw The salah cover issue is still a burning one. I'd say Elliott is not really a cm either and should really be up here but the younger kids are really really young amd can't compete. However accepting a front 6 with both Elliott and carvalho in it might be a bridge too far for klopp
i like worrying trouble is imo he needs regular game time in his best position and i just don't see when he gets it at present
Cups and as sub. 5 subs but klopp has to trust him as well and currently it doesn't really look like he's willing to risk the kid while we are struggling
That's it, isn't it. Carvalho has to do something to gain that trust. He played LM in one game in 442 thingy and didn't last long.
personally, I think he has all the ability he needs. I just think that the PL means you have to be stronger on and off the ball and he looks a little lightweight right now. I’m sure that they’ll be working on his strength.
thing is look at the United team of the 90s/00s. John O’Shea. wes brown phil neville nicky butt None of them particularly great. But were solid squad players who knew the club. They could step in when squad needed rotating. Any successful club needs those players that maybe not world beaters but can do a job when needed.
Wouldn't say gain the trust. I’d say it’s learn the position. Kids never played prem football before. Needs to learn the style. Also in a team underperforming so hard to blood young players easily. Needs to learn the tactical side of things. Maybe the next 6 weeks he can develop that side a bit more
Yeah but that's trust, klopp can't trust him to deliver when needed cos he isn't at the point klopp needs to get him to. That's why he's in the leavue Cup team and not getting on in tight leavue games.
11 appearances in the league so far. Only a few minutes in most, of course - but he's a young man trying to break his way into a top team so it can take time. Not sure what all the fuss is about tbh, but I suppose we have to have something to worry about given the current hiatus.
Just discussing how he has to earn the managers trust to put him in. Klopp will mind him until he does
Thry were all fairly bang average but we're enough and ugly enough and old enough to do a job when they came in. Ferguson also had the issue he let them all age as well. What you are looking at though is the guys willing (in and era where squad wasn't quite as important) to sit on a bench and watch the proper first 11 play. Butt watched Scholes and Keane Neville watched his brother and irwin Brown watched ferdinand O shea watched brown and vidic lol. Seriously though, we have matip, Gomez, tsimikas and milner so it's certainly no worse right now. The issue for me is that it's an 18 man squad plus change to 25 to really compete these days and you need all 18 to be able to come in and do a job against the big boys.
So transfers: with nothing going on bar lower league football and womens games I thought it would be good to check in on the transfers we might look at in janaury. 1. Jude "not happening" bellingham. While it is dortmunds objective to get to last 16 of CL they don't jsut stop there. They play cheslea in fab fo the QF and IMO they will refuse all offers until summer. 2. Konrad Laimer - reported to be "on the list" by our mates on thisisanfield. this guy is out of contract next summer, again leipzig play man city and know thats likely to be that but will they be tempted to sell in January and not lose on a free? This is one to watch. 3. Ruben Neves - the new arda turan. This guy is locked into a contract to 2027 and is 28. his agent has him linked everywhere. The new wolves manager doens't want to lose anyone. this is highliy unlikley at this point. 4. Joao Gomes - The next big thing, according to his agent. 21 year old brazilian who plays as a defensive midfielder. another long shot being punted about by agents 5. Brenden Aaronson - the he played well against Liverpool option. a player who has just arrived in england and playing for leeds as an attacking midfielder. another extremly unlikley move. So if you were making a list, oh say cos you like a list or keep getting asked for a list you might say Laimer is #onthelist but the rest look a lot of hot air from agents.
Regarding Neves: Signing a 28-year-old midfielder when we have so many players of a certain age is only kicking the can down the road a short distance.
Rumours ... well it is the transfer rumours thread ... that the club have someone tracking Sucic at the WC.
another one thats probably dortmund bound. 20, is reasonably tall, an attacking midfielder with a few assists to his name in the Austrian league, not sure he quite fits the shape and position we need. Contract is up in 2025 but won't be massively expensive given his current club is a seller.
highly unlikely. Rice has west sham where he wants them. He has turned down 200k a week for 8 years at the stolen ground. His contract runs out in 2024 currently and he can run this to the brink. the list of supposed suitors is as long as peter crouch's arm. If they force him to stay by not listening to offers then they stand to get nothing but he misses out on 140k a week for 2 years or nealy 15million quid. however if he does walk he will get that in a massive singing on fee and 350k min a week (presumably) There is every chance someone tries it on in january but equally more chance he goes for 50mil in the summer. If west sham think they can get 100 mil now with the guy heading down to 1 year left next summer they are dreaming. the real clue is in the wages required and how much the guy loves chelsea (apparently) despite them telling him to do one as a kid..
