Its lucky for Qatar they played Ecuador in the first game...If they played Holland that could have been a total embarrassment... Don't think I've seen a worse side in a world cup finals.
As for the weather/temperature... many of you know I live in the UAE..the weather this time of year is no issue at all. Yes its hotter than northern Europe, but its not oppressive...quite the opposite, this time of year is as good as it gets. The weather here should not be an issue for any of the teams

Armband or no armband, let’s see what our England and Welsh captains think. Is a booking worse than getting your head amputated?

    Pathetic is the only word.

I never believed Kane would wear an armband and now he has the perfect excuse ...

... 'I can't let my incredibly high principles affect the team so I can't risk a yellow.'

'Taking the knee' today will already be hypocritical enough, if they don't back out of that as well.

These players principled themselves into a corner, when things were easy and they didn't have to back up their various gestures.

    Now is the test.

Agreed @Smug in Boots with your comments. Take a yellow team walk off and come home. Point made.

The only way FIFA will learn not to go to these places is if their tv and sponsorship money disappears. The fewer people watch the more chance there is of that happening.

I'm still leaning heavily towards not watching any games at all but we'll see what the pull is like this afternoon.
I don't want England's name forever associated with this world cup tbh.

Sod's Law says we'll now win it, so that achievement will always be tainted.

Or if Kane gets a yellow, he then passes the armband to another player, if he gets then gets a yellow, pass it on until the team has them.

All this taking the knee and rainbow armbands bollocks whilst the Iranian captain speaks out against his own country. I'm starting to want Iran to win.

This armband brinkmanship shows you everything about FIFA. They have bottled decisions at the last minute. Months we have been waiting for them to tell us what, if anything, they will do. Now they pull this out of the bag at the 11th hour. Same as pulling drink at the 11th hour. That organisation really does need to be retired and replaced with something fit for purpose.

England are first of the 7, and as usual having to be in the spotlight. They are damned if they do, and damned if they dont in my opinion. Loads saying it is a hollow gesture, now saying it is a disgrace if they dont wear it. If we do it and take a yellow card will Wales do the same. Will Holland, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium. France have already backed out. It really needs to be all these nations, not just the few, in my opinion. All on the incompetence of FIFA in the run up to this world cup.

We have asked the captains not to wear the armbands'
A joint statement from the Football Associations of England, Wales, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland about the One Love armband: "Fifa has been very clear that it will impose sporting sanctions if our captains wear the armbands on the field of play. As national federations, we can’t put our players in a position where they could face sporting sanctions including bookings, so we have asked the captains not to attempt to wear the armbands in Fifa World Cup games.

"We were prepared to pay fines that would normally apply to breaches of kit regulations and had a strong commitment to wearing the armband. However, we cannot put our players in the situation where they might be booked or even forced to leave the field of play.

"We are very frustrated by the Fifa decision which we believe is unprecedented – we wrote to Fifa in September informing them of our wish to wear the One Love armband to actively support inclusion in football, and had no response. Our players and coaches are disappointed – they are strong supporters of inclusion and will show support in other ways."
