Oi lads. Lets quit with this football bollocks! Pacha Du Polder edges out Eradicate in a cracking two horse thriller. Jumped really well and looks another smart recruit for Nicholls.
Quito De La Roque might have won that but i stand by my statement that the staying novice form from last year is poor. He was beaten and if either of the front two had stayed he would have been beaten easily. Sizing Europe doesn't stay and i don't think The Nightingale did either. Far too slow for the Gold Cup.
What a race - just caught the end of it - amazing from the first 3 but QDLR stamps himself a Gold Cup contender
3.40 Doncaster: ANEEDAH e.w- Desperately unlucky last time out, loves soft ground, and beginning to show signs of fulfilling early juvenile promise.
On my other antepost advice, very pleased to see Silviniaco Conti take the Rising Stars at Wincanton. He jumps superbly well and i still think he looks one for the RSA in the spring.
Really? I thought the exact opposite. He stamped himself as a non Gold Cup contender. He just outstayed two non-stayers. No way he'll win a GC.
what a wonderful ride there on Quito De La Roque by Davey Russell, persevierence at its best - if that had been over here a think he would have been done by the whip rule which is another example of how ridiculous the rule is. wonderful ride.
great race and great ride BUT Davy hit him 9 times from 3 out !!!!!!!!!!!! to me great ride and should stand in any country horse look happy as well
I think there is a lot more to come from this fella - today was never going to be his "cup final", and he stays all day.
I agree completely. That wasn't QDLR at anywhere near his best in my books and he'll come on absolute spades for that! Excellent point Danbo - if that was in the UK that incredible ride would have resulted in a ban. Disgrace!
I'm about to take some of The Halo against Grandout but most bets on tonight: 5.20 Meezhan 6.02 Shakespear Shaliyah 6.37 Jackson Bend 8.01 Wilburn 8.45 St Nicholas Abbey 9.25 Creative Cause 10.07 Strong Suit 11.00 Havre de Grace Good luck all
Great minds think alike Heisenberg, first thing a thought about after the race was great ride but Davy Russell would have been stung by the stewards over here.
Agree that he might well come on for the run but i can't see him being anywhere near Long Run in any of the top races. He's clearly an out and out stayer and you need a lot more than that to take a Gold Cup. Also agree that it was terrific from Davy Russell. He kept persevering and was probably thinking the same as me, that both horses in front might well not get home.
