Probably be no hassle in South, West or SE corner. That's where I'd take mine if they were still young. Probs avoid potential flashpoints where its possible for N5 to mix with away fans. Shame that you'd have to consider that mind. They should be safe anywhere when attending football.

Anybody reading some of this utter ****e must think they've been transported back to Old Trafford or Elland Rd back in the late 60's/early 70's...Absolute knee-jerk,mountains out of mole-hills tripe.

A handful of silly immature stupid little boys who flap their arms around and throw 2p pieces at opposing fans are not to be approached because they're hardened 'peaky-blinder' style razor carriers who'll 'shank' you for looking the wrong way at them...

Where the **** does all this nonsense begin and end? It's self destructive pie in the sky fantasy and could well put people off visiting with their kids/grandkids/parents etc, etc, etc.

The Ground is safe,we are a family Club and youngsters(our future fan base) should be encouraged to come along, not deterred!!!

Spot on. My comment was about encountering coked up people in places other than the North Stand (away games, to be precise), there will be no issues with taking kids to any of the other stands at the MKM.

As said by Phil Esterhaus, I preferred Stan Jablonski's 'let's do it to them before they do it to us'.

Or, as our rugby coach at school said “Get your retaliation in first!”

There's no apparently about it, she's very sensitive (we suspect she has the same neurodiverse condition that I do) to noise and has ear defenders, but at three it's a lot to take in. You're also assuming a lot about my daughter having never actually met her. It's funny, at Ferriby she knew exactly what was going on and when she goes to football training on a Sunday she knows what's going on. But at Hull City, she'll be clueless? Why?

It doesn't need her to be traumatised to not want to go, the experience needs to be exciting, engaging and make her want to come back. Going back to the whole "not knowing what's going on" thing, is she going to be focused on the game if she's worried about what's going on around her? She's three, she's not going to want to go back if she can see a load of people scrapping, swearing and hurling abuse. That age group worry about monsters under the bed and the dark, so it's not difficult to understand that they'll probably find a large group of adults rather intimidating. I can only do so much on my end, if we want to be attracting fans of all ages and getting them hooked at a young age, then these dickheads in the North stand need axed sharpish.

I'll take her when she's good and ready and when this whole thing has been properly sorted; it might be that she needs to be a bit older but I want the first time she walks into our stadium to be memorable, just like it was for me, not the start of a bad memory.

Which was why I said not wishing to make light of it…

I wouldn’t take someone of that age. First took my elders granddaughter when she was 7 and was surprised how much she enjoyed it. Took grandson at 5 and he was too young. Got bored after a while and had to be stopped from thinking the aisleway in UpperWest was an adventure playground.
No offence, but I think you are being over sensitive about the whole thing. From far away she won’t be traumatised by some idiots waving their arms about at other idiots away. When were you near any actual scrapping at the MKM?
What would be going on around her in West, South or most of South Stand to worry her? Will only be a couple of years before she encounters behaviour and language at school just as bad. Why would seeing someone drinking beer be so distressing? No lounging round the pool on foreign holidays if that is the case. Though how would someone drinking beer look different to someone drinking orange juice or Sprite? And after having the North Stand as subdued as the rest of the stadium how are you going to enforce all these things on away fans? You want to be glad you don’t live in a city where the football club has a really boisterous atmosphere.
Anyway, good luck and I hope she enjoys her first experience but I would leave it a while yet.

Well that's my thinking, I wanted to take her because I have friends up and down the country who said they took theirs at that age and it's a good time to start. I wasn't sure, for these reasons.

The last time I was near any scrapping was during a Cardiff match some years ago and some seats were thrown.

I would sincerely hope she doesn't encounter adult language on her primary school playground, she'll be in F2 next year and they have their own!

Seeing somebody drink isn't an issue, her mother drinks at the weekend at home (that sounds worse than it is, I meant a few ciders on a night. She is Scottish after all). But where I sit (in the South) I've seen people who've had one too many and I think alcohol increases the risk of problems occurring. I don't want her being around people under the influence, you cite holidays as an example, but we wouldn't go somewhere like that where people are just openly drinking until they're much older and understand the context. Which brings me back to what you said, maybe it is too young for her to go.

She enjoys going to watch Beverley Town and North Ferriby, but she's been pestering me for a long time to take her to watch "daddy's team" and it's an itch I'm longing to scratch. But yeah maybe she is a bit little. She doesn't think she is, mind <laugh>.

My wife used to volunteer as a helper at the local primary school and the language she heard was quite something. They won’t have understood it probably in the lower years, just imitating their older siblings. And this was in a catchment area of nice houses and parents. Dread to think what it is like at the ones with the rougher catchment area<laugh>

I'm a bit worried about taking my 5 year old Grandson to football matches. Some of the adults might see fit to head for the exits when they hear him swearing!!!

Come on , How old are you .You don't have to get your face painted . It's not compulsory. For some people , especially little ones , it's part of the match day experience now .

I wonder how much face painting goes on at Acun’s other favourite club? I know which atmosphere I would prefer even if all that paper is traumatising and life threatening.

You won’t have been as exposed to it, especially on TV. Not to mention what kids come across on phones and tablets nowadays.
