This is what I was saying 9 months ago. The way for the club to grow organically is commercial deals and the levels have already been set. People thought the PL could block them. Even the big six. But they can’t. Blocking any deal that is in line with current levels of sponsorship would be a restriction on trade and this illegal. Our commercial revenue will go up 150m plus in the next 24 months and there is nothing they can do about it. Our owners can pump as much money in as they like to build infrastructure. There are also other ways the club can grow turnover outside of sponsorship. They can buy hotels, land, car parks, etc. They can buy assets that generate profit and that would count towards profits. The opportunities ware endless.
Indeed And snowball is the right word. The fact we are top 4 also makes better players look at us and it being more appealing. Thus improving the quality and again sponsorship off the back. Additionally the more top quality sponsors come in the more likely hood is for more to want a bit. We are the next PSG and Man City. Money makes money. All the morality crap is just a smokescreen for jealousy. We are perfectly placed.
Tbh I think most the fans I've spoken with are over it. I'm sure there's a few out there that have been protesting, speaking up about human rights and of course paying towards charities long before the nufc takeover, but for the rest that never did before and are suddenly crying every day? They can go **** themselves because they're dishonest. I am consistent! I never cared about what goes on in Saudi or anywhere else... I don't care about anything other than my where my next meals coming from and the match. Everyone else good luck I wish nobody any trouble or strife but it is what it is. Cold truths.
My mate, an Arsenal fan, threw the Saudia air sponsorship deal at me the other day - had to remind him it would be a shame if Arsenal were being sponsored for their shirt AND stadium by a middle eastern airline from a country with a poor human rights record and have a sleeve sponsor of equally questionable reputation... quickly started another conversation. It's like people aren't aware most clubs have these ties and deals around them. Chelsea and City and got all the flak before now it's our turn to play the game but they aren't the only ones, just our player has a bigger bankroll than the rest put together.
The fans of these clubs like to think there's something special about them that doesn't exist at clubs like Newcastle. It's actually the opposite and the next 10 years will show it. The issue will be when the future generations forget about the journey and start acting like the fans of these so called big clubs. These so called big clubs just won a few big hands at the right times but now newcastle have won the biggest hand football will ever see.
Sadly I think it's inevitable. I really hope we buck the trend and SJP still sells out on a Tuesday night vs Bodo/Glimt, but I doubt it. In terms of your last point - I think you're right. There is nobody with more money available than our owners, and by some distance. We have the richest companies (Aramco) to lean on, one of the richest individuals (MBS), one of the richest countries and one of the largest investment funds, all behind this club. People like Musk, Bezos, Gates, aren't bothered - their value is in shares, they are philanthropists and so none of these guys will own a club - even if they did, they wouldn't just spend, spend, spend - they have nothing left to promote. Most people would have loved someone like Ratcliffe/Ineos. But that's small time compared to our lot, as is proven by OGC Nice looking lovely, but having no meaningful success on the pitch.
We are basically the last biggest deal the world will ever see. But we will remain grounded because we have had 14 years of ****. It’s like coming out of jail for something you didn’t do after 14 years and winning the lottery with your first purchase.
How class is this video by the way. I dare you to watch it and not feel proud of wearing the black and white stripes. All those people. All that history. HWTL! (I’m nearly in tears)
The City is so indebted to Amanda Staveley. She should be given keys to Newcastle. Nobody will ever do more for our lot than she has. Sure, she stands to gain of course, but however it is spun she is the true Angel of the North.
She has done what some people would say is the impossible. She bought in. Fell in love. And then devoted her resources. She doesn’t owe us. She doesn’t even need us. But what she did was “get us” and she sees the potential. You could say she is a maverick. And she has the connections to give our club and the city a massive boost for years to come. You could say that she should be crowned in some way.
It’s perfect harmony. She got it. She saw the opportunity that Ashley’s idiocy presented and capitalised. What we got was the strongest investment ever seen in football. But we are 3-4 years ahead of schedule because Eddie Howe is simply incredible. That is also partly down to Staveley. She’s been the most unbelievable antidote to Ashley there could’ve been. And I doubted her, as others did, but how fantastically wrong I’ve been proven to be! Phenomenal.
I did. I doubted them. I feel horrible about that. But now I have complete faith. They have literally released years of anger and hate and given the city and fans something to believe in. And that more important than anything. We say as a fan base we are unique and I think we are. We are all living the week to week mundane life but our football is our cream. She has bought into that and got the Saudis on board. I will argue any fan who says they are not in our interests. My grandad died a couple of months before the takeover and his last years he lived and breathed the clubs failure and he still went. If he could see where we are now. I love our club and our fans and our owners and custodians.
For 100m. I can’t see it happening at that price. But then again I couldn’t see us spending 58m on Isak either.
I don't think Vlahovic is worth 100m, waste of money. He also JUST signed for Juve for 70m. Not my money though so if the state of Saudi Arabia wants to go for it, be my guest
