What a wally. This will be why Southgate didn’t take him too. That silliness/greed could put Brentford down.
That will depend on how many breaches he's found guilty of I would think. I suspect it could be a ban of anything up to 6 months.
Well by that logic Toney will get about a month then. Barton wasn’t in games he was involved in iirc, if Toneys are then he’s ****ed
B I still think the FA will view 232 games as a very significant number, even if much lower than Barton. Like you say, if he's bet on games involving himself then he's screwed. But I think an active player betting on over 200 games will get more than a month regardless. A month is pretty much the length of a red card resulting in a 3 game ban.
I hope it is 6 months + if it is on games he was involved in (either directly or indirectly). This is akin to insider trading and the penalties for that are harsh and can result in imprisonment. Don’t see why betting on a football match is any different if it is something you have insider info (ie not in the public domain such as an upcoming transfer) or influence over.
If he played in those games it is more than insider trading, it is closer to match fixing - depending on the bets placed.
Another thing I would like to be seen is a fine to the clubs he was employed by at the time. I work in a heavily regulated industry (banking) and we have strict controls that I have to affirm to (every single month), to prevent bank exposure and fault. Without that it would be the Wild West out there and employees would hide behind insecure systems and procedures to escape punishment. If I do something but have affirmed I haven’t then the bank has done as much as they can to stop it. It seems football clubs don’t care about the actions of their employees or turn a blind eye as they are worth literally millions.
They banned two Burton Albion players for 5 months recently. Betting on a similar number of games to Toney too. I don’t think he’ll get that long but it could be significant. Trippier got 10 weeks for sharing inside transfer business and he didn’t even make any money off it!
I’ve seen loads of things in relation to this Ronaldo interview and I honest can’t tell which are true and which are people just having a laugh based on how petty and pathetic he seems to be
