Oh there was something far better on for two hours last night. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I watched Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2. As the critics agree, the first one was better. I am afraid I didn't recognise any of the Hull locations, but I haven't been there for many years.
Talking of dodgy firesticks just literally this second finished watching “ see how they run “ based on Agatha Christie’s mouse trap. Not really my cuppa tea old sport, fell asleep twice… but I’d imagine others will stay awake…
Can we include films at the cinema in this thread? Found myself in a town with spare time - went to the local cinema and found myself watching a movie I had never heard of called the banshees of inisherin - Hollywood forumlaic style this is not. Really enjoyed it - a dark tragicomedy - the simpler the style, the deeper the message. Got under the skin this one, funny and poignant at the same time, puts you in a reflective mood about what your life means to you especially as we grow older, how time is running out, how our relationships change, what is important, what do you value, imposed loneliness, loss.
Carnival Row (Amazon). Finished watching Season 1 earlier this evening. Season 2 due in Feb 2023. Episode one seems to be from a season 2 not season 1 so a bit confusing. Things are clarified by flashbacks in subsequent episodes. Overall it is quite good. Main star is Orlando Bloom. Warning there is some fairy bonking featured.
Indeed, just thought it may have been of further interest. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Just started the second season of “ New Amsterdam “ one of the best hospital dramas I’ve seen and I’ve watched a lot… highly recommended if you like these sorts of programs.
I watched the FIFA one this week, no real surprises as most of things in it were already in the public domain, but it's still incredible to see all the corruption laid out together. Also watched the film Rogue Agent, which stars James Norton (from Malton) as Robert Freegard, the con man who robbed loads of women while pretending to be an officer in MI5. It's a decent watch and he's quite good in it.
-> "Not streaming yet afaik but I saw Living with Bill Nighy last weekend. Absolutely brilliant, a must-see imho." -> "went to the local cinema and found myself watching a movie I had never heard of called the banshees of inisherin - Hollywood forumlaic style this is not. Watched both of them recently, having seen the trailers and noted them. Both watchable, and a nice change from the usual stuff, but tbh I was expecting more from both. I was expecting them both to be somehow more profound and to have their 'livelier' moments. Acting in both films was excellent. As others said, Bill Nighy was very good.
