Danish film crew broadcasting a segment live on Danish TV are hassled by Qatari authorities. God help anyone going to the World Cup....
Anyone else find the BBCs hypocrites football commentators and pundits a fkg disgrace as they try and justify their decisions to go. Lineker and Yorath stink the tv up. Notice the BBC still haven’t even mentioned that 15,000 protesters were sentenced to death yesterday in Iran. Mostly women and all single women will be raped before execution to make sure they don’t go to paradise. Virgin Atlantic the most woke airline in the world ban cabin crew from wearing skirts when flying into Doha. These woke ****ers only care about themselves and virtue signalling
Mad really, that the only ones with any kind of design integrity are the 70's ones. The current one looks like it was done by a 6 year old using clip art. How did we end up with an owl in the 60's (is it an owl... ir could be a fat raccoon?) - did the shirt manufactuers mix up the order with the wendies?
They've mentioned it, but in the context that it's possibly fake news. I saw something about it yesterday on twitter, but the source was a comedian I think . I'll see if I can find it. In the meantime, here's the BBC take ; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/63643643
That's one of those social media bollock stories that got spread around doc. What they've done is terrible obviously, if not unexpected. But they havent sentenced 15000 to death. So far its a few ... who set fire to a government building I think. Not saying they won't do the same to the other 14999 they've detained... just not yet! edit: err... or what Dirty said
Isn’t that where the Owl came from because the owl was the city of Leeds logo/motif/badge back in the day, maybe still is
This is why Leeds loves owls - the history behind the city's obsession Owls are an important part of the city's heritage please log in to view this image Leeds has a long-standing love affair with owls. There are three owls on Leeds City Council's coat of arms, enormous golden owl statues outside Civic Hall and sculptures and paintings of the nocturnal birds at 24 other locations around the city, which are part of the Leeds Owl Trail. While most of us have encountered at least one of these birds at some point, not everyone knows why the city is obsessed with them. It all started with Sir John Savile, the first Alderman of Leeds. The Frenchman's family arrived in the UK after they were given a huge areas of land in Yorkshire by William the Conqueror, because they supported him in the Battle of Hastings in 1066. He decided to include owls when he designed his coat of arms, but it is not clear why. Some people think he chose them because of the Greek goddess Athena, who was often depicted as an owl. While others think he just liked owls. In 1626 the borough of Leeds was incorporated by Charles I and John Saville, the MP for Yorkshire, was elected the as the first council member. It was then that Leeds' coat of arms was created. The original design featured a fleece, which represented the city's main industry wool textiles, and Savile's owls. please log in to view this image A golden owl statue in Leeds (Image: Huddersfield Examiner) Since then, the birds have become a very important part of Leeds' heritage and local artists Antonia Stowe and Clifford Stead decided to create the hugely popular Leeds Owl Trail in 2009, after conducting extensive research into the history of the city's obsession. The coat of arms has been adapted over the years as various additions were made including, the Latin motto Pro Rege et Lege (For King and the law) and three stars, taken from the coat of arms of the first mayor of Leeds Thomas Danby. But the owls remain a central feature on the coat of arms, even though the colour of them was changed from silver to brown in 1920, when alderman Sir Charles Wilson successfully applied for it to be registered at the College of Heralds.
My gripe with the wingers running the ball forward last season was that they needed to be able to pass it into the centre (which they often fluffed - James take a bow) and then someone needed to be there to receive it (which they often weren't because they were slower than the wingers or just in the wrong place). With the current set up we're going up the middle and actually getting the ball back in to the box if it pings out to the wings.
I obviously have still failed to grasp the FFP rules as I can't work out how they've not breached them.
Because 95m doesn't breach them and isn't it based over 3 seasons with concessions for the covid period
