Good Morning. It's Monday 14th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds bemoan VAR decision in narrow loss Leeds were dragged back into the relegation dog fight, following a dogged fightback from Spurs, which saw them came from behind three times, before delivering a cruel and bitter blow to Marsch's men. The Whites started brightly, and were ahead on ten minutes. Arronson showed great strength and determination on the ball, before executing an inch perfect forward ball to Summerville. The young Dutchman held off two defenders before beating LLoris at his near post. Leeds frail defence stood firm for 15 minutes, before Spurs equalised in controversial style. Meslier came out to punch clear the ball from an in swinging corner, as he was met by a melee of Spurs players. The young Frenchman was bundled into the back of the net with a further Tottenham man falling over him, preventing him from getting up. The ball fell kindly to Kane, and seconds later Spurs were level. Astonishingly, the goal stood. Leeds retook the lead just before half-time. The hosts failed to clear a Leeds corner, as Kristensen headed the ball ball into the danger zone. Rodrigo nipped in, to volley past Lloris from the edge of the area. Spurs drew level just after the break. Ben Davies' long range thunderbolt flying past Meslier as he got into a tangle with Kristensen. With fifteen minutes remaining, Rodrigo got his second of the match, as the Whites once again took the lead. Adams' sublime through ball carved the Spurs defence right open. Rodrigo made a beeline for the Spurs goalmouth, and calmly fired past the despairing dive of the keeper. Tottenham levelled five minutes later. The visitors failed to clear a cross, and Bentancur took advantage from long range. The effort went through the legs of Ayling which may have left Meslier unsighted. Less than two minutes later, Spurs took the lead for the first time in the match. Kulusevski skipped past Koch like he wasn't there, squared the ball to Bentancur, who fired the ball into the empty net. To make matters worse, Adams was dismissed during the closing stages for a second bookable offence. The Whites deserved something from this game, but when you're Leeds Utd, you can only use the cards you're dealt with, and more times than not, your opponents hold all the aces. please log in to view this image VAR continue to cost Leeds dearly There's an old adage in football that 'bad decisions even themselves out over the length of the season', but whoever said it, didn't factor Leeds Utd into the equation. Puzzled football fans from all over the Country took to social media at the weekend, to voice their utter disbelief that Harry Kane's 25th minute effort was not ruled out. The force of the two on one challenge, bundled the Leeds shot stopper over, colliding with the netting, yet the man in Black Michael Salisbury, and his two assistants on VAR refused to even review the incident. Last month ESPN reported that Leeds have the joint lowest net VAR score in the top flight this season. An article written on the 12th October (by ESPN journalist Dale Johnson) reported that Leeds are yet to have a VAR decision rule in their favour. Talking after his post match presser, Marsch was quoted as saying :- "That's a foul,” “The fourth official says to me ‘Yeah, I think it's a foul’ and I go ‘Okay, good. Then it's gonna go to VAR’ and then they don't even look at it. But again, I mean, what am I going to do, freak out like I did in Brentford? Then they're gonna throw me out and I'm gonna be the guy who's in the wrong, which is incredible. Right? What's in the wrong is that it's not [given as] a foul.” "What am I meant to do? Freak out like I did against Brentford?” please log in to view this image Are Leeds two good centre backs away from being a top 10 side We all know that Leeds are in desperate need of an attacking left back, and a centre forward, but what about their defence. Leeds have scored nine more goals this season compared to last, but have conceded six more. Their frailties at the back have been well documented, and whilst the future looks bright with players such as Struijk, Hjelde and Cresswell making major progress, can Leeds afford to wait until they mature? In recent times, Leeds have looked solid, both in midfield, and their makeshift forward line. Are our centre backs good enough, or are they a liability?
Morning all. Centre backs not good enough and no left back at the club. Enough said about that, unlikely to change. Re the VAR ****e, Im fed up giving out about it all weekend to anyone willing to listen so Ive said enough about that too and also unlikely to change. Will likely remained pissed off till our next win clears the air in a couple of months maybe
Morning all, Every week we seem to say on here that was the worst VAR decision you've ever seen and then boom along comes another one. It might not have won us the game but goals change games and who knows what would have happened if it stayed 1-0.
Yes, pissed off with the VAR decision but doesn’t change the fact we took the lead a further two times and couldn’t hold on to it.
VAR is a joke and sick of being on the receiving end of bad decisions and refusals to even look when an idiot can see an infringement. I see De Zerbi has kicked off about the antics of Villa yesterday who were just throwing themselves to the ground feigning injury and throwing the ball away and in one case ignoring the ball passed to the player by a ball boy and walking to find another ball to take a throw in with. Marsch complained about this but ended up getting done and refs seem to pick on him now. Maybe it’s about time the FA took the time away from the ref and a proper timekeeper employed to blow the hooter when time played out to full 90 minutes. We have encountered teams like Wolves, Villa, Everton who waste time and get away with it. Wolves were timed in one game and the actual football match was only 54 minutes due to time wasting. Maybe if our football administrators did their job they wouldn’t be a laughing stock. Too many top teams seem to get decisions and teams like Leeds get nothing
Will be interested to hear what Dermot Gallagher says about the first Spurs goal on Sky later. Will he completely agree with the ref/VAR yet again ?
So don't make statements if your not sure, all these people who have jobs now because they are passed it at what they used to do, walk a careful line not to upset people or associations, Gallagher dropped many a clanger when in the middle, never apologised to clubs or put his hand up saying he was wrong, so in my eyes a woke ****er.
