I don't think it's helping us at all. We've tried it in a few games and it's just a sign to invite pressure plus the referees are wise to it and happy to add time on. I get the frustration of conceding in the 98th minute against Liverpool and I'm sure there'd have been a horrid reaction if we'd conceded at the end today but we invite it onto ourselves a bit. Don't want to focus on it too much as the overall performance was deserving of the win and Pope has been better than i could have hoped for.
I think some have their blinders on Consider Pope one of the worst culprits in the league for time wasting personally.
You can't really sample it like that as you're only going to waste time when you're in an advantageous position (unless you're an idiot). We lost one (Liverpool) and I don't think it helped us today at all. We lack any subtlety to it and keep picking up cards and having time added on for it anyway.
When he was at Bournemouth Eddie always looks for every angle even if a bit cynical to grab some kind of advantage. They are probably encouraging it. Couldn't give a hoot if results stay like this. We win every week, we win every weeeeek, we're Newcastle UTD we win every week!
They're defintely encouraging it, they're also encouraging blasting the ball into the crowd if needed and always looking for a throw in. We like to control the pace of the game, if the opposition get momentum we stop it anyway we can.
100% I think the fact that Lascelles was getting involved shows that, if we were chasing a game and a sub for the opposition started acting like that to try and waste time or affect the game it would wind me up. Any kind of disruption I guess. I do have a concern with Pope picking up yellows when Darlow is our back up though :S
That time wasting is winning us games, even with utter **** like Wood on the field. So kind of emphasise my point, right?
We’ve only tried to waste time up to Jan. Then we get more top end players and boss games. Believe it or not, but a title challenge is in the offing.
Would love that. I don't have any moral objection to time wasting and if it winds the opposition up then even better, I just don't think we're as good as it as we think we are. Can't argue with the outcomes though and Eddie clearly knows what he's doing so I should stop second guessing him. Same as you with Wood really probably
Good old fashioned fiesty match and felt like we always where going to win. Another clean sheet. We have only conceded 11 goals. 5 of them where against Man City and Liverpool. We have them rattled. Question is. Do we go for it and try and get top 4.
