They must have sent someone to watch him last weekend. They are pretty strong at centre back with Van Dijk and De Ligt but he must have been pressing for a back up spot. Maybe Ake got the nod as he is more versatile. Never seen Jurrien Timber play but he seems to be very highly rated.
When we were first taken over there was a thread about which players we felt could survive the changes and I tentatively said I could see Willock growing with the team as there's a very good player in there. Performances like tonight where he was much better than Mount or Gallagher (who have both made the England squad) are a pretty good place to build from.
Our midfield (England) is often talked about as a big strength for us. I think Rice is very very good, Bellingham may well become a world beater and Maddison is a great player in great form but after them you're left with players like Mount, Gallagher, Phillips and Henderson (who in fairness has been excellent but is looking past it now i think) - I think there's a lot of bang average players. The next tournament is 20 months away, there'll be 2 or 3 spots coming up probably.
I see the first international side has come out to actively boycott the Qatar World Cup. Scotland have principles apparently.
