Listening to yokel radio this morning ( Farming Weekly R4) a grower of strawberries in Worcestershire complaining that foreign imports are on the shelves of the supermarkets. He can't source the labour to pick his crop. He's asking that the end users pay 50p a punnet more to cover his increased costs. He blithely states that they wouldn't mind this " small extra cost". Seems as if he knows more about growing strawberries than he does economics. Another Brexit bonus.
Apparently the fault of immigrants. Even though farmers are offering much much higher wages for fruit pickers yet still the Brits don't want the jobs. And even if they did, the supermarkets will squeeze the farmers for costs and still put up the prices for consumers who won't buy them. This wasn't the Brexit they voted for though

Simply put them up in hotels for £200 a night then bus them to the strawberry farms and let them get minimum wage picking strawberries. I used to pick berries when I was a teenager for beer money , there would be students and housewives doing it to maybe buy a car or pay for a family holiday .
