Gooch and O'Nien both posting, KLD and Speakman at the ground ... ... we're not the finished article but we seem to know the design.
Does anyone else think that Clarke looked a bit knackered and not very sharp tonight? I reckon he is in with a shout of being our player of the season. Tonight he was up against a tough FB who had help, often 2 players marking him. He probably needs a break he had played the full 90 mins in a lot of games. It will be interesting to see if he bounces back into form after the break. Not sure if Roberts did much when he came on... its infuriating he has loads of skill but doesn't deliver.
I really like Pritchard's character. There have been some rumours about him being a nuisance behind the scenes but I don't see that in him at all. Don't think Mowbray does either he plays him every game, most likely bullshit.
Clarke tried all game but yeah he looks like someone who needs a rest. I doubt he's had anything like as much football as this in his career so far and if he has it's been nowhere near this level.
Ps..then bed... We are quite good at ****housery when we need to be. I guess every team does it if they are winning Pps Birmingham fans forum thought we were ****.
Tell you what, there was only one football team tonight. People whinge on about Mowbray but, ffs, the Birmingham manager had Plan A followed Plan A with the substitutes on ... ... exactly the same shyte as Luton and Huddersfield, endless diagonals followed by a launch into the box. If they ever bring in the Alton Towers height rule these so-called young talented managers will be screwed.
cheers again RTB... not caught up with the previous pages so don't be nasty if i repeat a lot of stuff already said but here are my thoughts, i don't think we tried to 'play football' as much as we normally do, we cleared the ball when we needed to and regrouped rather than too much 'passy passy' but still showed we can move it around when we need to. hume and huggins, well done lads as that was a tough game to come in and make a mark, dan neil had a better game than recently although i would still like him to be stronger in tackles. diallo has to be MotM for me, excellent play to set simms up and his goal was superb...simms seemed a bit livelier and put himself about a bit more, gave them something to think about, something we have been missing for a few weeks.
you know you have a team rattled when they start throwing themselves to the floor trying to win free kicks, it means they are flat out of ideas...i think we controlled the game nicely in the main without trying to look good about it, a nice change.
The touch and quality that Diallo has is frightening at this level. His goal was ridiculous, but his close control and quick feet for the opening goal was outstanding. This kid is a real player. With Stewart back after the WC break we have some real selection problems up front
Great result tonight but just goes to show how important the home games are. If we won last week and tonight it would have been massive. Not complaining though. Canny start for a newly promoted team.
Worth noting the complete change on tactics to win this game. Long balls, less possession obsession. Game plan worked, even if I don't understand it
Literally just finished watching it and had no idea what happened… Awesome result. Tough game. Diallo superb again. Good Friday night!! Superb Has Nipper been on?
Yeah it was a lot more back to basics balls to the wall than we're used to and it worked. There's a lot of character in the squad and I think Mowbray is part of that.
Alese and O’Nien will be and Wright will almost certainly not be available for the millwall game anyway as Australia only play a few days before it
Proud of our team at SAFC, a huge result, and happy days to look forward too who could ask for more. .
Our young squad did a lot of growing up tonight and got some proper on the job training in championship football
