I absolutely adore the insanity of the Black Country, New Road album still. The best album of 2022 I'd say.
Garrick (Garry) Roberts, Boomtown Rats guitarist and founder member died this week aged 72. I loved The Rats, their first 3 albums were superb. They were (wrongly, imo) lumped in with "punk", but they never were.....these could really play. This is from their debut album.... R.I.P Garry.
I've never heard of of Liam Clancy before, but I've listened to that 3 times now, and absolutely love it. Thanks for posting that.
I listen to a lot of his music Snaggey, The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, proper old Irish folk music. Liam performed solo after his brothers died.
Imo, one of the greatest voices ever....I love the tone of his voice. "Your baby doesn't love you, anymore" straight in there lyrics wise as well....
Another Roy Orbison classic.... Tony Angelino and Raquel....comedy gold. They followed this with the gween, gween gwass of home....
****ing hell.....another one gone. Not many will know this one, but this band means a lot to me. Hawkwind founder member Nik Turner dies aged 82. The band had a very "fluid" line up...who turned up, were in, type of thing. This is from Space Ritual, recorded in 1972, and in my top 5 albums....ever. The bass player went on to have a canny career.... R.I.P. Nik.
