But I thought at 15 he was essentially not under contract and could just leave? No need to wait for transfer windows etc as its not like Newcastle would need to register him for the first team anyway.
Good to see that they would rather his career come to a dead stop with the money that the Saudis are throwing about than allow him to make his way in the game with us
Aye but if he's good enough and they back him to be good enough then they'll think he can break through there. He's still only 15 so not like he needs to be playing first team football in next couple of years.
He'll probably never even pull on a black and white for the first team before they decide to sell him
He has a better chance if they take him from us than him starting through their ranks. They will still cream their pants over him signing from them over us and him spouting I'm a mag always wanted to play here etc.. Reality is they are going to go and buy in every position and spend couple hundred million each season, unless we see ffp get serious for once but I doubt it!
Maybe. Maybe not. Their new lot are talking a good game about being better with youth and acknolwedging they've been **** previously. Anderson is just breaking through for them. And there is the Longstaff lad. And if Rigg and his parents thinks he can be better than them (and why wouldn't they think that) then they may want to take the opportunity to do it at the club he loves rather than one he hates. Personally I'd want to be at the place with a plan to get you into the first team. But for all we know Newcastle are telling him they will as well. And whilst it might take a year longer for him there, the pros might outweigh it towards them. Which is f***ing ****e.
See my post about him coming from us to them and the propaganda machine! He has a chance of getting a few appearances. However, any young lad with his head screwed on should see he has more chance here than there. The two clubs and their models are polar opposites.
Not confident at all tonight, but with sunderland you never know. Excited about the 3 youngsters as all have bright futures in the game - hopefully all with us
Hes raw but has so much talent. Ive seen him make mistakes in games, most youngsters do, but he never lets it effect his game
I'd genuinely rather we played Johnson there tonight than take Evans out of midfield and play him at CB. He's older than Callum Doyle was when he was playing for us. And the whole route to the first team goes up in smoke if we don't play our 18 year olds when we have no fit seniors in their positions. It also sends the exact right message to players like Rigg who will be sitting on the bench watching his mate play senior football.
I'm against making any player stay at the club or 'busting a gut' to do so ... ... KLD is creating a club that players will want to be a part of in my opinion. It'll take patience from the supporters but I can handle it because I believe it's different to the various so-called masterplans we've had in the past. Posts on RTG are demanding the owners, Speakman and the staff are kicked out ... ... you wouldn't believe memories could be so short they'd forget how Short and Donald ran the club.
That's mental. The way opinions change with results is so internet. We were definitely left short up front after the transfer window, but the rest is just awful luck.
