Although this is a bit of a free hit for Jones, I hope we don’t have one of those days where we have another open door policy for opposing players to run through our midfield and defence to score at will. The last thing we need is for the manager to be traumatised by a heavy defeat in his first game in charge. Not many (anyone?) thinks we will pick up anything other than a few yellow cards (including one for the manager) and the customary injury to whoever plays as right back, although Vin and No7 will be expecting us to win because of their positivity. Might even be time for the kettle v dishwasher routine to be re-instated. Lavia wasn’t included in last night’s squad, hopefully because he was being rested ahead of this game. If, as has been alluded to in one of the many writings I have read, we set up with a diamond midfield, then I think Lavia is key to the role of the deep midfielder, protecting the CBs. If I have it right, Liverpool have only scored 5 in their last 5 home league games, whereas we have scored, in our last 5 away league games, mmmmm 1. So on that basis it looks like we will lose 1-0, which right now would be acceptable to me. Hoping for a credible performance with everyone giving 100%, and no schoolboy errors. UTFS
I think we should target (in the nicest possible way) their World Cup players, just to make them realise that any injury could put paid to their chances of playing in Qatar. And Salah.
I agree, but target them in the worst possible way. We're not going to beat them by playing football. I've no issue at all with us kicking them off the park. Hopefully Lyanco can provoke a row in the tunnel.
I would play: Baz ABK DCC Salisu Elyounoussi Jwp Lavia AMN Perraud Adams AArmstrong (Assuming all our RBS are still injured). Pretty negative but work hard and try and catch them on the break/prowse bang in a free kick. Not sure if this is the game to throw edozie in up against Salah / Trent etc
Saturday 12th November 2022. Liverpool v Southampton 15:00 Referee: Simon Hooper. Assistants: Adrian Holmes, Mark Scholes. Fourth official: Dean Whitestone. VAR: Andre Marriner. Assistant VAR: Timothy Wood.
Sutton says 3 - 0 Liverpool, his oppo's not so sure one says 1 - 1 the other 1 - 0 Saints. Lawro has gone 2 - 0 Liverpool.
Don’t know if true?? Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has received a one game touchline ban, & will serve it against Southampton tomorrow.
If I was Jones I'd be ticking off their WC players in their line up in the dressing room and telling the players to hit them hard in the opening 10 minutes. 2-1 away win.
