I may be talking crap , but I seem to remember rumours of Sturrock having a drink problem and that is why we got rid .

it was utter rubbish , he was developing an illness , which made him appear drunk slur his words etc .

Again I’m probably wrong but I seem to remember being chuffed for him when he went to Plymouth and did well there .

In 2008 he revealed he had Parkinson’s disease , but it had affected him longer than that .

The worst that can happen is we continue to do badly and get relegated, which I think we would have done anyway.

Can’t bloody WAIT to sign Ben Brereton Diaz in January. This place is going to go bonkers.

I maintain we need two attacking players - upgrades for Armstrong (signed as a striker) and Elyounoussi. With both of those dropping into squad roles. Now if Brereton is signed to completely replace Armstrong's squad role (with Armstrong being booted out on loan because he offers absolutely nothing) and we still get the two original attacking upgrades (for three attacking signings total) - then I have no problem with it. But I don't see us bringing in three attackers.

If he is our main attacking signing - not so much. And the bonkers reaction will be slightly more justified than some of the usual collective outbursts on here

Nathan Jones would never of been my choice as manager, afterall what the F do I know about running a football team.
But I am 100% behind him, he's got a tough job ahead but let's hope he pulls it off.

Utterly disappointing decision. If the best we can attract is the Luton manager and we've got a team which play as well as they did tonight we're ****ed.

    Cheers SR

The blame should be on Gao more then anything, Ralph worked miracles with the squad until he didn't. One window wasn't enough to be able to correct 5 years of no investment.

Tonight has confirmed that NJ has a hell of a hill to climb. This squad are playing awfully and, being totally honest, the only thing that might save us this season is the worst world cup in history.

From his comments, Selles seems to fully understand the problems facing the squad, he seems to be pretty clear that the players were the problem as much (if not more than the manager) so the next manager will be no better than the last until things are addressed.

If he has to drag the squad up the hill with him we are buggered, if the squad realise that they are actually the problem and decide to go with him we have a chance. Here's hoping his rumored passion and inspirational qualities have time to take effect.

I think we need to correct some ideas.

We didn’t ‘only’ attract the Luton Town manager, we went after him.

A guy that has been in the business years and built up a multi million pound sports company went after his number 1 target.

I’m going to go along with his better knowledge of the situation rather than the rants of people on here.

You should find you share a standpoint with the majority of people on here, but the difference in us all is how we each approach the decision. It is 100% outside our control, so we can either go with it and support the decision (at east until we have seen how things change or develop over a number of games), or get depressed and put out negative energy and moan and predict how bad things are going to be.

The reason we all have our doubts is because where we are in the season. If this was the start of the season, we would probably all feel a bit more confident, as there is an option to get rid halfway through the season. This feels like a final roll, so we are all a bit concerned, given his lack of PL experience etc. It is clear SR have aggressively pursued this, so for that reason I am getting behind this - it may be the case that this involves some form of insurance should we go down and need someone to get us back up and maintain consistency with a plan. But I seriously doubt that SR would be throwing in the rag at this point of the season - we are a win away from jumping multiple places up the table, and this World Cup break is an amazing opportunity for a pre-season.

Remember that you have wanted Ralph out and been calling for this for at least a full season - one of the reasons I didn't want Ralph gone is because we don't know who we might get instead, plus Ralph managed to keep us in the PL without fail each season he was here, under intense pressure and few resources. That is an insane skill, however you do it (and he tended to get the team on decent runs once or twice a season that store up enough points to weather the seriously bad runs he also took us on).

This is who we got as a result of Ralph leaving, so it seems churlish to start complaining about it before the guy was even appointed. No one needs to assume this is going to turn out bad - why can't it go well, for example? At this point it has an equal chance of falling either way, or somewhere in the middle. He basically has the challenge of winning around ten games of 24, or getting a combination of about 30 points together. And I am sure we will know how likely this is within about ten games, seeing our run post-World Cup is pretty good. Let's look at it again then!

And, I reckon Ralph will be back soon enough. Leeds? Leicester? Or maybe he fancies the rest of the season off - must have some serious stress to recover from.

You've said it already - we all know your opinion. You might be right, you might be wrong - who knows. It seems as soon as a bit of optimism creeps in, on here, you have to do your best to bring it down and remind people that you think it's an awful decision.

I get it... it's a forum, encouraging discussion, debate and people's views, but seriously, give it a rest and get behind your club. Honestly, i'm sure you'd find a turd in a field full of diamonds!
