Went to bed at midnight and read until 1 am, putting on CNN just before lights out. Doom. I woke this morning at 9am before walking the dog and cannot believe how well the Dems have done. Fetterman has totally kicked arse in Pennsylvania. Desantis smashed Florida for the GOP - overall lesson is practically every Trump-endorsed candidate in a close seat suffered and struggled more than the Kemps and Desantis'. The House is lost, but absolutely nowhere near as bad as feared, or indeed expect for a midterm with a president as unpopular as Biden. Somehow (and God knows why) there could still be a total miracle in the Senate and the 50/50 is restored. Unbelievable. Still expect Trump to run again, even if it's just to keep the prosecutions at bay and keep the grift going (though expect some firework revelations from the 6/11 Committee between now and January when the new, Republican reps kill it off). All the Republicans with brains know though that Desantis is nailed-on for the presidential candidate and, probably, president in 2024, so expect him to offer to pardon Trump in order to become the heir to the MAGA fanatics. All in all, not the wipeout that was expected, and will probably result in both Biden and Trump not running in 2024 in the end. Desantis versus ? then.
