Buy the lad at Coventry anyway. Gyökeres apparently Everton were after him n’all. They’re not gonna buy both him & Stewart
Naturally the big 6 however he would probably do a better job as a number 9 than anyone at Man Utd or Chelsea. Not saying he's a better player than the forward players they have but a better number 9. Obviously Ronaldo is head and shoulders above him in every aspect but his heads gone and is pointless to them now. So Arsenal, City, Spurs, Liverpool, Newcastle, Fulham and Leicester if Vardy sorts himself out that's 7 teams. Any other prem team he'd have more than a fair shout at.
Fair enough, all about opinions eh. He is an unreal player for us but still raw, which is scary considering what a handful he is already. Needs to improve his link up and finishing to get to the next level, hopefully he does that with us.
IMO I dont think he would start for many PL sides at the minute. He hasnt even started a game for Scotland yet.
I'd love to see the big man stay and hope he will. IF he was to leave, I don't think we'd get daft money for him like some folk think we will.
People don’t half get carried away on here, course he wouldn’t. Literally no prem clubs came in for him in the summer and don’t think they will January either.
Injured for a while. Minimal experience at championship level , doesn't have international reputation etc. Big fan of his. However, I doubt we will be getting 10m for him. I think it will be like 7 or 8 max. Just my opinion.
Fair enough. Maybe, at that sort of money the club will turn down offers* *nee chance. This is Sunderland
He is still under the radar a bit, largely thanks to his injury. He looked top end championship before that, at least. I would think if he were at say Southampton, Palace, Leeds, Bournemouth or Leicester he would be knocking on the first team door. His all round contribution is outstanding in my opinion, and prem coaches will love that.
The other problem is that £7m or £8m will likely be £4m or £5m in the summer and then £2m or £3m the following Jan. If he is not willing to sign a new contract, the decision will likely come down to whether we are confident of staying up without him, and then if we are, is finishing mid table rather than 17th/18th worth the extra few million we'd likely get for him now versus the summer. On the flip side... if we hang on in January and he scores another 15 goals, his value still might stay as is if he's in demand, even with just a year on contract. Doubt it goes up tho.
Aye. If he's not going to sign a new deal then I'd be actively looking to sell in the summer. No point losing him for nowt
There's literally no point having our model unless you're willing to take risks on selling players when their stock is high. The club won't be certain they can replace him. The whole model is about taking hits occasionally, but hits that allow long term growth. The argument as to whether the club think we will be able to cope without him is kinda moot - the model KNOWS we will be weakened. It's about acceptable and manageable risk.
Agreed, it's also about having faith in our recruitment team. We would find it hard to replace him but if we can sign 2/3 players with his transfer fee that makes us a better all-round team then it would be worth it. Really hope he doesn't leave though as hes one of my favorite all time players at Sunderland
